SELF HELP.

Some victims are able to gain a certain level of relief through a detoxification regime, using natural herbs, etc.

Not everyone is assisted with this method.

However it is worth considering as on option.

DETOXIFICATION

Detoxification as a layperson's understanding is the way a normal person's body handles toxic chemicals.  As I understand it is in two parts, called phase one and phase two.

Phase 1 is the normal phase; phase 2, which has multiple pathways.

It is when phase 2 pathways become impaired that causes the MCS Victims system to overload, with more toxins building up in the system than the system can clear.  this causes deficiencies in the amino acids required for detoxing.

Correcting these deficiencies with supplements can sometimes be beneficial to the victims.

Again let me stress this is a layperson's understanding of the process.

In the publications link there is a link to Dr. Mark Donohue's site.  Dr Donohue is an Australian doctor who has done a lot of research into this field.

There are other links to international sites as well.

We will add more from time to time.

HOWEVER WE WOULD ALSO WISH TO ADD A WARNING OF SCAMS.

There is available many different treatments that illegibly assist Victims.  Be careful.

Many are not available in Australia and are expensive.

There is some concern that many are unproven scams and cause great heart break to the victims and their families.

We need some system to validate these treatments and community education to pass on the knowledge of what is beneficial and what is not.

We need facilities, especially for rural people , that are easily accessed by  them, spread right across the Country within easy reach of anyone.

Access is the real problem.  It is not just a matter of providing a building but also staffing it with properly trained staff.

Many MCS Victims have been driven out of the major population centres into isolated areas to get away from the chemical pollution.

Coming back to a large city means returning to the pollution that originally drove them out.

Trying to get treatment in the cities means facing the potential of an adverse reaction because of the pollution.

At this moment of time, only those financially well off can tap into any support that will gain them even  short term relief.

Others are left to their own devices and many are prey to scams and unreliable literature, often claiming to be able to provide a cure.

Research is urgently needed into potential treatments and solutions.  We need this research to go into our schools and colleges to study the problems.

Any information should be made freely and easily to the community through, i.e. schools, colleges, community centres and other health centres and hospitals.

Once suitable treatment is available then an extensive training programme should be developed to health care providers, carers, companies and the general public.

If alternative medicine is proved to provide a satisfactory treatment then it needs to be added to the Medical/Hospital/Pharmaceutical Scheme and made available to every Australian, whether rich man, poor man, pensioner or whatever.

Simply to advise that a cure is avoidance is not being realistic.  Where can you go to avoid some sort of chemical pollution in Australia.

We face it in every aspect of living.  MCS victims are more vulnerable than most of the population.  They and the authorities need to avoid "Witch doctors/clinics" that offer miracle cures.

Obviously understanding MCS needs to cover all aspects, whether physical mental or emotional is an absolute necessity.   Adverse reactions can be quite varied and often immediate for victims coming into contact.  Contact can mean losing emotional control as their emotions run riot from crying, to salivating, anger, fear, etc.

SELF HELP LINKS

This page will show links to various sites with information regarding self help for cleaning and health.

As we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information and have added these links for information purpose.

The reader needs to read them for themselves and make a decision as to whether the information is suitable for their use.

Each individual will have different needs, hence we are unable to advise regarding individual cases.

Links will provided to articles, publications; to other support groups; etc.   Any advice or additions you feel would assist,  please do not hesitate to contact us.

We would greatly appreciate any contribution from support groups, or individuals who believe they may have something to add that may assist another Victim
