Glossary of Terms

What follows is a short dictionary of terms that are often used in Lords of Legend. Throughout this site various words have been referenced that appear here and they have been explained either here or can be clicked on for a further definition.

999 AP:
When you reach the maximum attack points (999 ap), your account will “freeze”, with no income or AP updates and no treasury updates. You can break this freeze by simply spending some attack points. Your account may still be attacked while frozen.

Allied Clans:
Clans that have chosen an option which means they can not attack each other.

Armour Freak:
Someone with a lot of armory items.

Barracks:
The Human & Dwarven basic building for housing troops. Often used as a generic term for other races buildings (Billet, Cantonment, Digs, Dormitory, Quarters, Sorority, Tomb).

Building run:
When you use attack points to gain gold for a building that costs more than the current safe gold level. (Example: you can safely sit on 60,000 gold, but need a building that costs 150,000 gold, and you attack as quickly as you can to reach that amount).

Clan:
Group of up to 30 players all working together. Will have a given name, usually assigned by the either the clan leader or the first person to make the clan.

Exp (or XP):
Earned via attacks on other players. Grants levels (which in turn grant an extra 25 power per level).

Family:
A group of clans that work together as a long term team.

Flawless Hit:
A hit made where you lose no troops.

Fort:
The generic term for the basic building for defending your army. You begin play with one of the following: Hideout, Grove, Parapet, Encampment, Burrow, Unearthed Graves, Rampart, Barricade or Longhouse.

Grunt Rushing (or Rushing):
Buying as many level 1 and level 2 troops from the mercenary page as often as possible to quickly increase power and income per turn.

Headquarters (HQ):
This building is required to create or join a clan.
Prerequisites: 1st barrack (name varies by race) and level 5.

Horde, The:
The group of players that bought a Fort and have no barracks type building so can not spend their money. They move up the rankings in a block as they get more free troops than those without Forts. The slight racial differences mean that the horde splits into races after a few days. Higher power players that attack these Warlords are said to be "Feeding off the horde". ** Not to be confused with a well known clan called "Horde".

Income:
The amount of gold you receive each tic. This can be found on the profile screen. This values increases as you buy troops until you reach the income cap.

Invisibility:
At the start of each round, until a warlord makes a winning attack, the warlord is invisible, and is unable to be attacked.

Level:
When applied to a Warlord it reflects their rank, which increases with XP. When applied to a unit the first type of unit is referred to as a level 1, then the next unit in the list is level 2 etc.

Market:
Once built, you will be able to choose how your gold will be distributed every 24 hours. You can choose between an 8 hr market or 24 hr market. The latter choice will spread the same amount of money every tic to your account whilst the 8 hour market will give the majority of your daily gold in those 8 hours (or 16 tics).
The base level market does not have any requirements.
To upgrade, you require 50k, 1st barrack, level 5, first headquarters and to be a clan member.

The calculation for the amount of gold given by each market upgrade for the 50k and subsequent market levels is:
50 + (8 gold times by the number of members in the clan (excluding you))
In a full clan it would be: 50 + (8 x 29) = 282 gold per upgrade added each tic
You will find the amount your market provides in the profile screen and this amount is included in the income you earn per tic.

A 24hr market is exactly the average of the open/closed income.... e.g. if you have 31,726/7,932 in your profile for an 8 hour market, it will be (31,728 + 7,932) divided by two (= 19,830).

Or for those who hate calculators, it's 2 x your market closed income .....every tic

Mass:
Massive attack, when several warlords all hit the same target with lots of AP.

Mercenaries:
Units that can be bought via the Mercenary screen. Sometimes also referred to as level 1, 2 or 3 units. Mercenaries will stay with your army until killed. Hired units will not simply leave.

Multi:
Someone who has more than one game account. This is very much against the rules of the game and may result in having the multi account deleted, the main account reset and/or the player being banned.

Multi-account:
An account that belongs to a player who already has another account (see also multi).

Perfect hit:
A hit taking maximum gold (4.1% / AP (4.5% for Orcs)).

Run busting:
Catching someone on a building run and attacking to take their higher than normal gold. A term often used when a single person throws a high amount of AP (above 20-30). This generally happens if the runner keeps trying to gain high gold for that building. NB. It is usually a good idea to stop and buy something else if you see your gold going down while running.

Runner:
Someone that is trying to get enough gold for a building that costs more gold than they can safely have. They hit lots of targets really quickly and have to buy the building they want before someone else hits them.

Rusher:
Someone that just buys Mercenaries all the time. They generally have few advanced units and little armour. Not seen so much since the introduction of morale.

Siege Unit:
Level 5 units: Bombard, Bone Dragon, Catapult, Inferno, Hydra, Landslide, Maulroc, Manticore, Scorpion.

Spammer:
Someone who makes a lot of meaningless posts that add little to any conversation.

Stone:
Warlord Seing Stone or WSS, lets you see an opponents troops & armory.

tbg:
Turn Based Gold or Tic Based Gold. i.e. the amount of gold you get each tic.

Tic Watching:
Either for Mercs or for Runners . A few minutes into the tic you may find the merc pool is very low so some players make sure they are there buying mercs as the tic starts. Also most runners make their building runs at tic so some warlords scan the attack lists as the tic changes hoping to catch them and get high gold.

Treasury:
A building where 1% of gold on hand (maximum of 3,500 gold from 350,000 gold on hand) is deposited each tic (this is “free” gold and does not come from your income. It is more like interest on your on hand gold). This gold may be used for armor, weapons or buildings and will be used first when buying these things.
You will find the information about your treasury in your profile : Treasury Income / In Treasury 0/0
Prerequisites: 1st barrack (name varies by race), 1st fort, 1st armory (name varies by race)

Vet:
Veteran player. Someone who has played many rounds. Often a great source of information for the newer player and some will answer questions in the forum.

Important Terms

Attack points (AP):
You get one each turn/tic (30 minutes) and can get up to 7 additional each day by clicking links under Support LOL or Bonus AP (7). You won’t get any AP if you’re on 999 APs or Vacation Mode. If two or more players use the same IP address, only one of them will be able to get the extra 2 APs from voting for the Lords of Legend Game in “Support LoL”.

Daily tic:
At 2:30 am (game time) the server updates and this is when you get your free daily troops (based on your current Fort level) and interest is charged on any loan. Also after this, you can claim your next lot of extra AP from "Support LoL".

You will find the amount of units received looking in your Profile. Example for an Undead:
Skeleton recruiting rate 12-Once a day

Defensive Adjustment (DA):
Defensive Adjustment automatically deducts from your opponents roll. i.e If an attacker has 20,000 defense and Defender rolls 80,000 the actual roll will be 60,000. Defensive Adjustment on a large scale can drastically cut troop losses and is one of the most important aspects of LoL.

Eye of Prosperity (EoP):
When used on the attack list, it organizes targets from highest gold to lowest. Each EoP may only be used once.

Extra/Free/Bonus AP:
The 7 AP a day you can get on top of Tic ones. Click on "Support LOL" at top of game screen and follow instructions.

Income Cap:
The maximum amount of income per turn (not including market income)

Non-human (8hr market): 85,000 / 21,250
Non-human (24hr market): 42,500
Human (8hr market): 90,000 / 22,500
Human (24hr market): 45,000

Midnight tic:
The midnight tic sets your market time for the day and resets your attack point use on any warlord. If you have used 50AP on a warlord the day before, you may once again spend APs on that warlord. NB. 50 AP one a single warlord is generally only used during war on a clan and will usually be seen as hostile at any other time.

Reset:
The end of the round. Once a clan has reached the power goal, the round ends and the game will reset. All accounts will revert to starting status once the new round begins. Can also mean when an individual account is wiped clean for some reason (not in a clan at level 40 for example).

Round:
A set period of time in a game of LoL. In the clan game, the round ends when a clan reaches a certain target and stays there a tic. At this stage, accounts may no longer be played and a few days later the game will be reset. In PVP, the round ends when you run out of tics remaining.

Tic (or Turn):
Every 30 minutes. Each tic of the game gets you another AP and another quota of gold. The amount of gold you will receive can be found in your profile.

Vacation mode (VM):
Will put your account into “vacation” for a minimum of 48 hours, with no turn updates to your income and treasury. You cannot gain access to your account for a minimum of 48 hours. This may be done through “edit account” in the left menu of the game. Your account is still able to be attacked during this time.

Warlord Seeing Stone (WSS):
When used from an individual attack page, it allows you to see the composition of an opponent’s army, and gives an approximate chance of success. Each WSS may only be used once.

Weapon Adjustment (WA):
Weapon Adjustment adds to your attack roll. The greater your Weapon Adj. the higher your roll will be on average. This in turn helps you kill more units with higher rolls and win more often.

Weapon Bonus (WB):
Weapon Bonus does not affect your roll or your opponents roll directly. The higher your weapon bonus, the easier it is for you to kill your opponents’ troops. Having a largish Weapon bonus lowers the amount you must roll to kill units. This can be very fun to create brutal armies but is perhaps not that great if you only wish to win the round or finish high.
