I went to catch a 44 from Newcastle at 5:50pm and found I'd just
missed one. I went to check the timetable at the bus stop, but there
wasn't one (and hasn't been one for 5 or 6 months, so I'm told).
It's disgraceful considering this is the ONLY stop for this bus
in Newcastle for this service! So, what time is the last 44 from
Newcastle to the coast? Who knows! |

On the subject of bus stop names, the stop at Chirton is called
Chirton Green (it says so on the stop), but most drivers don't seem
to know this, prefering to use its old name "Chirton Post Office"
(the post office hasn't been at this stop more than 7 years). How
do you ask for a stop when the drivers don't know what it's called?
Perhaps someone should tell arriva/Go Coastline the name of the
stop has changed. |

Have you tried the 308 service on an evening? Go Coastline make
you change buses at Silverlink to continue the journey. Last time,
the new bus drove away before everyone was off the old bus, leaving
them behind. The new bus was then chased down the Coast Road by
the old bus so the forgotten passengers could catch the new bus.
What a farce! |

Why does Arriva and Go Coastline call the same stop by different
names? On the 308 service, Murton House Farm (Arriva) is called
Jacksons Farm by Coastline. If you don't know this, you'll be overcharged
as a result... I was, I had to pay to the next stop because of this
discrepency and it's unfair. |

I waited on Friday for the 356 at 9.30am so as to be in North
Shields for 10am for an interview. The bus eventually arrived
20 minutes late and I was late for the interview as a result -
it was after 10am when we reached North Shields. I'm told the
service is ALWAYS unreliable. Someone should buy the drivers watches
and teach them how to follow a schedule!

The 356 service from North Shields to Newcastle which was due
at New York at 9.40am this morning didn't arrive. It was bitterly
cold with driving snow and there's no bus shelter to try to hide
from the atrocious weather.
I arrived at the stop at 9.30am, and I wasn't the first person
there for this bus. At 10.05am the driver of the 356 travelling
in the opposite direction told us that the bus we were waiting
for had already gone - he'd been over 10 minutes early!
How
many others along the route had been stranded in freezing snow
and driving winds waiting for the 356 that had already been?
Worse - the following 356, due at 10.10am was late! I gave up
waiting at 10.15am because I was frozen to the core and feeling
ill with the cold. The other lady who'd been waiting for the same
bus also gave up and went to phone her employer to explain why
she was going to be very late for work.
Because
of the bus not keeping to it's scheduled timetable, there was
now no reason for me to travel - whatever bus I caught, I'd arrive
at my destination too late for my appointment.
I'd also spent almost 45 minutes standing in a blizzard on one
of the coldest days of the year so far. To say I'm not happy is
an understatment! If anyone from Arriva or Nexus read this, I'd
like an appology... but I'm not going to hold my breath!

When I wrote "whrote", I meant "wrote" in the previous correction.
Let's hope this time my dyslexic fingers haven't made another mistake.
Oh, and I still think the 44 to Newcastle (and back) is a brilliant
service! |

I'd like to say how pleased I am about the 44 Bus service from Arriva
- I have a choice of either catching the sanil 308 or the speedy
44, and i always go for the 44 - even when it's running a bit late.
I thought it about time someone said something good about a basically
good service, although I'd be even happier if it ran on Sunday's,
too. |
