A couple of weeks ago, an old lady was on the 44 from Hazelrig,
going to Newcastle. She didn't realise it didn't stop at the Haymarket
anymore, so missed her stop. At the Formica stop in North Shields,
another passenger helped her onto the 44 going back to Newcastle.
She was really confused. I don't think Arriva has publicised the
fact the 44 does NOT stop at the Haymarket anymore enough.

I've tried to catch the 44 at a little after 9am on most mornings
this week and the earliest it's arrived has been 9.10am - the latest
was 9.23am! It's supposed to be in Newcastle by 9.25am! It's becomming
a joke trying to organise a time to catch it because it never runs
on time. Why doesn't Arriva sort it out! |

On Saturday 13 July I was at the Bus Stop on Norham Road North.
The Time Table at this stop states the no44 bus arrives at 36 mins
past each hour. As it was only 25 mins past five I started to walk
to next stop. I managed to get approximately 75 meters away from
the bus stop when Guess what, a No 44 bus passed me leaving me helpless
to do anything about it. When are the Bus operators going to take
their customers complaints seriously. PS this is an Ariva service

Why were we moved from the cover of the Haymarket bus station? Who's
bright idea was it to make the 44's passengers suffer? Sack 'em
and give us back our propper bus stop! Why build a bus station if
we're not going to be allowed to use it? NEXUS need to rethink this
stupid idea! |

Comment:
I've just spent a while waiting for a 44 in Newcastle listening
to other passengers (particularly the elderly) complaining about
the move from Haymarket for the bus stop. It's very inconvenient
having to trail across the busy road at Haymarket, particularly
with shopping, or if your elderly or have children, especially if
it's raining (or snowing, heaven forbid). I agree with their anger.

The number 44 bus now picks up and drops of at St Mary's place
before going on to Hazelrigg. It has been doing so for a while
now. Sadly not many people were aware of this and it has has caused
great confusion. This causes serious problems for the elderly
and disabled members of the public trying to cross a very busy
St Mary's place to reach the bus stop, many have actually missed
the bus altogether. It also arrives five minutes earlier now,
this was not advertised clearly either and workers can no longer
get to the stop on time. This leaves them with an extra half hour
wait for the next bus. If it is the last one through to Whitley
Bay they need to find an alternative route, not always easy.
