Project Done! Took a while for the TV card to come out, but now it has i'm very happy with the results, my little HTPC is silently working away and i've thrown out my useless VCR! I did read alot especially on Hexus.net re the apparent crapness of the 550 Pro card, however in my experience (with the new PAL drivers and GBPVR) this is a very capable card. I have had no problems with quiet sound levels or freezing. The 550 Pro uses very little CPU to record, about 5% CPU every 10 second or so, the actual bottleneck is the M10000 which uses approx 55-60% CPU to render/play the created MPEG. The quality is top notch, no dropped frames or sync issues. (even in fast moving scenes like Touring Car Racing) I have used my PIMP for three weeks now using the timeshifting and recording extensively with no problems. I've even managed to get Super Bust-a-Move working via the remote control! (big brownie points with my girlfriend - you can see in the picture than this game is running!) I can definitely recommend GBPVR www.gbpvr.com for the M10000,
runs/responds quickly enough to menu operations and is intuative to use
(and unlike PowerCinema doesn't render the TV image upside down!!) |
