With the lag just through the body (small grey dot) you can lightly replace the head in the correct position. Push down to mark the location (small grey dot on head). Drill the correct sized hole in the head to receive the lag. Now glue the head to the body and screw the lag in to pull it into place.

The head glued and screw and read for the next step
The head attached and ready to be keeled.

Make your keel the length, depth and style that you prefer. Mine are just shorter than the body around 2" deep.

Drill countersunk holes and a hole to attach the line to.

Drill two holes (1/2" to 5/8" for 1" stock) balanced on center jut short of the bottom to receive molten lead for ballast.
