Thump, Thump, Drag

Story by Wizard of Canada
Edited by Will Ong

This story happened to a Canadian Girl Scout. Troop 38 had just been promoted to the next rank. Anyway, the seniors in this rank always give the rookies a hard time.

On this particular occasion, the seniors dared Troop 38 to spend the night alone on a campsite in the woods of Canada. This campsite is well known to the locals as a haunted site. Troop 38 accepted the challenge because they thought, if they did, the seniors would leave them alone after that.

Four girls went into the camp ground with only a tent and some food. The seniors had told them the place was deserted but they came upon a man when they got there. The man introduced himself as the clerk working near the campsite. Upon learning that the girls were going to spend the night there, he warned them to stay in their tent at night no matter what happened. The girls thought the seniors put the guy up to it, so they went along.

Everything was all right and peaceful until the lonely night slowly crept in. As they were getting ready to sleep, the girls heard screaming outside their tent. The scream was almost inhuman and it was so eerie they girls began to think seriously about what the clerk told them.

However, one of the girls, Sarah, decided to go outside the tent and check it out. The others tried to stop her but she wouldn't listen. She tried to get them to go out with her but when all refused, she went out alone.

Sarah went out for almost an hour and still never came back. The other three girls were getting worried. They felt stupid for letting her out all by herself. Nevertheless, the fear in them prevented the girls from going out to look for Sarah. Then, they heard a noise outside the tent.

"Thump... thump... draaaag...! Thump... thump... draaaag...! Thump... thump... draaaag...!"

The girls were so scared they just sat inside the tent motionless. They stayed up all night listening to the terrible noise that got nearer and nearer to their tent. No one dare to go out until next morning.

When the sun rose and the noise stopped, the girls decided to go outside and perhaps fled the scene. As they emerged from their tent, they were shocked to find Sarah lying outside the tent. However, Sarah is dead with only half of her body remained.

The noise the girls heard all night was poor Sarah trying to drag herself back to the tent. Each of her elbows made a 'thump' when it hit the ground and as she tried pulling her body forward, it made a dragging sound. Sarah did not make it to the tent for help and the other half of her body, from the navel downwards, was never discovered. Some says it was the demons who killed Sarah. Others think it was the werewolf. I don't know what it was but I know I have lost a sister.
