This is a very good appetizer.
My Grandmother taught me how to make them.
They have become a tradition at our house on Christmas Eve.
I hope you
enjoy them.
Chop the onion and the bacon. DONOT COOK THE BACON.
Put bacon, onion, and pepper into
a bowl. Mix together.
Take a section of your dough, and roll out about 1/4 inch in thickness.
Cut into circles, I will
use a small mouth glass.
Fill the cut dough with bacon and onion filling. Fold in half and pinch
together.
Put on lightly sprayed cooking sheet.
Take a fork and re-pinch the seams. They should look
like half moons.
Poke a hole on the top with the fork.
Beat one egg in a dish and wet the top of the
sprechtbrogens.
Makes about 4 to 6 dozens. Depending on how big you make them.
Bake in oven for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees, or until golden brown.
