Learning About Careers

In order for your child to make a decision regarding his/her future, it would be worthwhile to learn about the variety of careers, the skills, and education necessary to pursue that career.  Here are several items that you may want to know before investigating careers:

How does success in school influence success in the world of work?

Where can I go to obtain documents that may be required?

What training or college degrees are necessary for specific careers?

How can my child prepare for job hunting?

What are some useful job tips?

When looking for a job, there are many things to be considered. The Career Zone site is an excellent online place where you can find information about careers.  This site was created by the New York State Department of Labor.  Another excellent online site is "Get A Job!"  created by Kathleen Roberts and Dolores Coleman.

Another excellent online career exploration site is the Queens Public Library.  When you click on the appropriate link, you will find data about a career that may be of interest to you.
