Welcome to Switchblade City. Do not let the clicking sound frighten you. In a world of drive-by shootings, the much maligned switchblade knife doesn't seem so horrible anymore. Hi, I'm Ragtime Red, and I love switchblades. I was 8 years old when one of the most ridiculous laws in the history of the United States was enacted. This is the infamous 1958 Switchblade act. The combination of the Hollywood portrayal of these knives along with politicians looking for issues led to the demise of these wonderful knives. Well I'm here to tell you that they are alive and clicking. The purpose of this site is to show a few pictures of some of my favorites as well as give you some links to some related sites. Though my passion is Italian stilettos from the 1950's, I also love the solidly made German leverlocks, and there are custom makers out there that are creating artwork. I have loved switchblades since I was a kid, and there is a mass resurgence of enthusiasm for these wonderful springed beauties. I hope you enjoy the photos, there are more than 12 pages of switchblades listed below. I have spent a lot of time trying to gather information about Italian stilettos of the 50's, as well as older American and German autos. Drop me a line and let's share what we've learned.
