8.16.02 - Lunar: Legend (sort of) officially confirmed along with US versions of Ikaruga and Zettai Zetsumei Toshi
Remember how we mentioned that Lunar: Legend, a GBA port of Gamearts' classic Sega CD game Lunar: the Silver Star, was finally confirmed for release in the US? Well, the confirmation was finally "officially" confirmed by Ubi Soft, the game's publisher. Due to cart limitations, Legend is a very cut-down version of the game (it has no voice acting or animated cut-scenes). Of course, the question is: Do we really need another port of the game, especially a trimmed-down GBA one? Treasure's latest shooter, Ikaruga, may be on its way to GameCube, courtesy of Infogrames. Due world-wide in January 2003, the GC port will have added modes and features not found in the arcade or import Dreamcast versions. Innovative action/survival game Zettai Zetsumei Toshi is now on its way to the US. Dubbed "Disater Report" for American release (*shudder*), the game will be brought over by Agtec in the 4th quater of this year. The X-Box release of Shen Mue II will now come packaged with a feature-length film recapping the events of the first game. The add-in, which was first released with the Japanese version of Shen Mue II, is a DVD which will play on both X-Boxes and standard DVD players. Both English dialog and Japanese dialog/English sub-titled versions will be featured on the disc.
In some more unconfirmed news from that bastion of unconfirmed news, Gamesarefun.com, the Wonderswan update of of Final Fantasy III may have been canned in favor of a GBA version (*crosses fingers*). The fact that no info has be released on the title in a quite some time, coupled with its removal from Square's release list, adds some credibility to the story. We'll have more on this story as soon as there's some concrete info.
