She speedily becomes a student of Fujishima Ikebana to be near him. Her father sees the situation and says, "No matter how beautiful you are, it's artificial. He'll think you a fraud if he finds out," and Ryohei, who knows the real Honami, criticizes her for going all-out to catch someone who's not even interested in her. But with the confidence of beauty Honami has no intention of giving up on Ryusui and keeps coming back to the Fujishima building. Although Ryusui is aware of Honami's interest he is preoccupied with a big project. He has to meet with his guardian and Aoi, who pick the traditional Fujishima flower, a nadeshiko, for the event. This was Ryusui's father's favorite flower, but Ryusui hated his father and dislikes nadeshiko too. Nonetheless, he has to accept Mr. Ebisutehara's choice. The search starts for the hard to find and unseasonal flower. Honami has Narumi deliberately attract Yajima's attention on a group date, showing him the "old" face. She makes frequent casual trips to the Fujishima building, and accidentally overhears comments about the flower issue, but mistakenly thinks that Ruisui likes nadeshiko. From now on she is in hot pursuit and in her desperation to attract Ryusui's attention she even goes to the country to search mountain valleys. Even Ryohei is pulled into the search for some magnificent specimens. When Honami at long last finds some nadeshiko she offers them to Ryosui with both hands. Although aware of her efforts Ryosei says, "Nadeshiko are such miserable flowers. I don't like them but still have to use them." Of course Honami didn't know this. She replies, "I think that nadeshikos are great. They bloom in any situation and have to be bold to stand up to people," and stalks out of the room. It's Sunday, a few days later. Honami hears that Isaki (Manami Konishi) is at home with a cold and decides to go visit her, taking medicine she herself made: onions soaked in rice bran and miso. She asks where Isaki is and goes there, only to find that Ryusui and his mother are there too, as well as Ebisutehara, his wife and his daughter Aoi. An argument is going on. What's happening? Intoxicated with interest, Honami listens from behind the sliding paper doors, but in the next instant the door is opened....
