Honami's wishes come true and she spends the night with Ryusui.
When she goes home the following day and lets her family know, they
are happy for her, and her mother, Ruriko, cooks red rice to congratulate
her on the fulfillment of her love. However, Eri has the presence
of mind to say, "Forget all this. What you should be thinking
about is when he finds out about the plastic surgery." A new
worry springs up, and Honami immediately practices disclosing the
truth, using Ryohei as a stand-in for Ryusui.
Ryusui at the same time has to deal with the problem of Towada.
The previous day, Towada had decided to boycott the national Ikebana
exhibition midway through work on his submission. Ryusui has now
decided to take him off the membership rolls, but the school's executive
members are completely opposed. Ryusui's mother, Shino, is disturbed
when she sees a magazine article playing up the Ikebana school's
disputes, and tells Ryusui that they must have Itehara act as mediator
and quiet things down, possibly with an apology to Todawa and withdrawal
of his dismissal. However, Aoi hears about Honami and the predicament
gets worse and worse for Ryusui.
In the midst of all this, Isaki visits Honami and discloses how
the commotion is putting Ryusui into a difficult position. She says,
"The only one who can help my brother now is Aoi!" and
implicitly urges Honami to get out of the picture. Honami is bewildered
for a moment and presses Isaki, "Are you saying he should marry
someone he doesn't love, just for the sake of the school?"
Once she realizes how much this would benefit Ryusui, Honami heads
over to his house. "I thought the head of the school had more
power. I just wanted to catch you and now I'm tired of it..."
says Honami as she breaks off the relationship with words she does
not feel in her heart.
With this, it would have seemed that everything was solved. However,
Ryusui doesn't give up on Honami. Now he understands the truth of
Isaki's doubts when she had earlier said, "I wonder if..."
Of course those doubts were about Honami. |
