It started with people who felt there was a task presented before them bigger than
any other that they had ever imagined. A task so brilliant, so magnificent, yet so
daring that probably only five people on the face of this earth could ever possibly
comprehend. A task that many others thought of doing but didn't for fear of failure
or being ridiculed. These five people would come together to complete this task not
only once, but twice.

The Anthology does not only reveal history. It reveals memories. Memories of the five ones
whose minds were so mentally indescribable who could come together as a group to
write the
ideas that meandered through their heads. Memories of the individual
pieces of literary art that these people composed of which were so simply
weird that they were too complex for any normal human to comprehend.
And memories of the book. The book that brought together these people,
these poems to express the weirdness of a small part of mankind.
Because of the memories of the people, the poems, and the book, it is not difficult to say that I
consider myself honored to be able to participate in this recollection of the history of
The Weird Guys Who Write Poems.

I had a dream after The Weird Guys split up that we would again reunite.
That whole summer I lurked with anticipation of poetry. That when we
came back to school, it would be back to normal. But it didn't turn out that
way. People said The Weird Guys were out of date, that there was no
chance. But I stuck with the goal. Now we have again reached our
standard of excellence in what is now The Anthology.
-Jeff
It began as a genius idea by a poet considered a tike in size, but giant in poetry.
He told a
friend who was known to pee in cornfields and an organization was born,
made of those who would write poems regardless of what others thought.
These were The Weird Guys Who Write Poems, and nothing stood in their
way. Many people admired their daring and brashness, and they went on to
make two fine publications of poetry. And now I have the honor of saying I took part in
The Weird Guys Who Write Poems.

When I first heard about The Weird Guys it gave me a vision. It gave me a dream
that I was determined to fulfill. If accomplished, this would be the single greatest
achievement of my life. I wanted to become a Weird Guy! When I first spoke of
this goal I was laughed at, ridiculed, and shunned. They told me I'd never make it.
They said I wasn't good enough. But I had a feeling. A fire that could not be
extinguished. I would not go down quietly -not without a fight!
When I submitted my invitation poem to the four already recognized as Weird
Guys I trembled. Would they accept it? Would I become a Weird Guy? It was not out of my
hands when their decision was announced. I became speechless when they accepted it! I
was in! I was a Weird Guy.
