Deeper truths

Here you can learn some deeper truths about this website:

  • When you browse through this website you will see that I usually don't use a lot of images.  The main reason for this is that I don't have an English version of Windows so a lot of people probably wouldn't understand the text in the screenshots.  I also try to avoid image to reduce the download time of a page for people that don't have a fast internet connection.
  • Something else about the texts on this site.  English is not my first language, Dutch is, so please don't laugh to hard with strange sentences that you might find on this site.
Please feel free to report grammar errors to me.
  • Still more about my texts.  I like to use very long sentences because I that's the only way to make them a bit funny.
  • Remember irony, I tend to use it quite often.
  • I use this date format on this website: yyyy-mm-dd.
  • This website is created with Microsoft's FrontPage 2000.

The history of Star Trek Video

Somewhere in November 2000 I was a bit bored, I had no television in my room and I had just discovered Star Trek Voyager.  There was however one thing that I did have in my room, a computer with an extremely fast internet connection.  So I thought, "there must be a way to combine that really fast internet connection and my need to see lots of Voyager episodes.
I started my browser and after a few hours of very clever searching and only a small bit of luck I found a website that offered Voyager episode downloads.  I was in heaven, although I would later say that I was in hell.  Those episode downloads were of course links to  dozens of those free storage websites and it took me long tedious hours to collect all the needed rar files.  But when I finally had all the files, and when I had extracted the episode, I could sit back and enjoy forty minutes of pure science fiction pleasure.
I was able to download together a nice collection of episodes when some higher force must have thought that I was having to much fun and decided to make my life a bit more miserable.  Suddenly all the websites that I once used to visit every day to harvest more Star Trek episodes started to disappear or stopped updating their beautiful sites.  I wanted to preserve the beautiful concept of websites that allow people from all over the world to download the latest Star Trek Voyager episodes, especially because it was the last season and people got bored with the Borg and the Delta Quadrant and just wanted to see Voyager arrive on Earth and get the whole thing out of their minds.
So, I decided on one of my less selfish days, that I would start such a site, so that people could download Voyager episodes for the reasons stated above.  I went to Geocities and got myself a few free megabytes of space and started with the creation of a website.

Old website layouts

  • November 2000 - July 2001
I Created this website in about two hours and it never had any real contents apart from the trade list.
  • July 2001 - February 2002
I worked very long on the layout of this website.  This website had a lot of visitors because when I started to offer Star Trek Enterprise episodes in October 2001.
    See it.
  • February 2002 - September 2002
The layout of this site was the first thing that I ever managed to create in Paint Shop Pro 7.  I worked hard on the layout but I didn't took the effort to update the website or to upload the latest Enterprise episodes.  Me being lazy and Yahoo Briefcases that seemed to have some kind of magical download limit caused a lot of problems.
    See it.
  • September 2002 - Today
The layout of this site, if you can call it a layout is based on another website that I created, a freaky one that is only visited by my friends and people that are very lost on the internet.  I like the beautiful simplicity of the site.  To make sure that the website would have any contents apart from links, I forced myself to complete it entirely before I made it public.
    See it.
