November 2000
Virgin Atlantic announced that beginning mid-June itwill fly one daily round-trip between London Gatwick and Toronto. No announcements for a Vancouver service have yet been made.
October 2000
Air BC is reducing capacity on the YVR-GEG service from DHC-8's and B1900D's for next year.
Air Canada
confirmed its acquisition of twelve Airbus A321 and two additional A319 aircraft. Air Canada will begin taking delivery of the aircraft in October 2001 for immediate deployment in its domestic and transborder markets. Air Canada thus becomes the first airline in Canada to operate the A321.
Air Canada will be dis-continuing their Toronto-Austin TX route due to poor load factor. This was one of the two new routes started earlier this year that have not survived. The other was Toronto - Ontario CA.
Air Canada begins daily nonstop service Monday, October 30 between John F. Kennedy International Airport and Vancouver. A daily 7:30 a.m. departure for Vancouver from JFK's Terminal 7, with arrival time at 10:30 a.m. From Vancouver, flights depart daily at 2:00 p.m., arriving at JFK at 10:10 p.m.
September 2000
HawkAir has started a new service with one Dash 8, providing daily flights between YVR and Terrace
Helijet has painted one of its S-76's in a Whistler 2010 bid livery.
Qantas Airways will increase in services from Vancouver and Toronto to Australia beginning in November. Direct service from Vancouver to Sydney will increase from four flights per week to five.
August 2000
Effective November 21, 2000, Air Canada will commence daily non-stop service between Vancouver and Shanghai. Flights on the new route will be operated with wide body Boeing 767-300 aircraft. Air Canada flight AC005 will leave Vancouver at 1200 and will arrive in Shanghai at 1620 the next day. From Shanghai, flight AC006 will depart at 1815 and will arrive in Vancouver at 1255 the same day.

Roots Air will now have a start-up in early 2001.
WestJet Airlines'  will aquire of six additional firm Boeing 737-700 series new generation aircraft, the option to purchase an additional 18 737- 700 series aircraft as well as the purchase of a 737-700 series flight simulator. The new agreement now brings the WestJet fleet plan to a total of 36 firm 737-700 series aircraft, and 58 options, for a total of 94 aircraft.
July 2000
Air Pacific will begin YVR-NAN service via HNL. the service will commence 22Oct00.

Horizon Air
announced today that it has reached an agreement with Bombardier Aerospace of Canada that will enable the Seattle-based regional airline to replace its entire jet fleet with new, quiet, and fuel-efficient 70-seat CRJ-700 Series regional jets by the end of 2001. Unde the new agreement14 of the 30 CRJ-700 jets Horizon has on order will now arrive between December 2000 and October 2001, well ahead of their initial 2002-2003 schedule. Over the same period, Horizon will be phasing out the 69-seat Fokker F-28 jets it currently operates. Horizon's remaining CRJ-700 order will arrive between 2003 and 2005, as originally planned.
Flight International magazine there is an article about
National Airlines of Las Vegas. The article talks about how they plan to raise new capital to finance future growth and mentions that in their 11-year launch plan several more U.S. cities will be added plus international routes to Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Mexico City.
