Hey there. My name is Rumble, and I'm going to guide you (yes, you!) through this page's article collection. How, you say? Well, seeing as I've got all of reading week to think about hardly anything, I'm going to do a brief summary and background speech on the article itself to clarify the situations each was taken from. Ready?
The year was 1995...our fledgling band was just beginning to spread its wings...the four members (Chris Eacrett, Raine Maida, Jeremy Taggart, and Mike Turner) had been spending their time trying to get their name out and make a fan base. And then...Robert Plant happened to be listening to his radio at the right moment and heard Starseed! Hearing something he liked, it lead to: STARSEED PLANTED! (May/June 1995)
Feeling some sweet sweet success, the members found themselves being interviewed on tour: Our Lady Peace (Sept. 1995)
And of course, what is starting your career without being compared to other bands? Alistair Stewart takes it to heart! OUR LADY PEACE (Nov 13, 1995)
Duh duh duh-rah!! With their newly released, highly successful sophomore album, Our Lady Peace found themselves in magazines, with a new bassist, and elated to some-what dizzying heights in popularity: MODEL CITIZENS (April/May 1997)
Then, the highlight of our 1998, (Geez, that really makes us sound pathetic! O.k, ONE of the highlights of our 1998) came on January 23, 1998, when OLP graced The Coliseum (now Skyreach Centre) with their musical masterminds. A preview in the Edmonton Journal was done: ONE STEP AT A TIME (Jan. 22, 1998)
1998 proved to be quite the article year for OLP, finding themselves in many papers, in which we have a couple to share with you: FUMBLING TOWARDS ECSTACY? (1998) SHINING BRIGHT (Feb 1998)
After the Junos, an odd article came out questioning Duncan about award shows...make of it what you will: AN ARCADE INTERVIEW WITH...
Of course, what band can get relatively big in the states without being poisoned by conformist magazines such as YM? Apparently, none: 13 HOTTEST ROCK GODS ON THE PLANET (Aug 1998) Oh, and we know about this article through a friend of Erika's. We do not buy YM. Ever. No. Bad. Awful stuff.
Now, I don't know how this article fits in to the timeline. All I know is that it comes after the last one. Yes. Just read it, people: THE CONSISTENT ROAD HOME (Dec. 1998)
As we all know, the media likes to put out "Top ___ of the past year" lists, and OLP happened to top this one:GIGS BIG AND SMALL ENLIVENED (Dec 31- Jan 6, 1999)
This is the article where they announced some of the tour dates for the States: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
If you didn't know it already, the video for "Life" was shot the day before Duncan went into the hospital for surgery. Needless to say, we're pleased that the surgery was successful, but that's not what this page is about! Duncan's health had the boys questioning the meaning of "life" (apparently): OUR LADY PEACE'S MEANING OF "LIFE" CHANGED BY CANCER SCARE
As most of us know, "Spiritual Machines" was inspired by Ray Kurzweil's book. What we didn't know was that he gave OLP a keyboard for free! KEYBOARD MAKER INSPIRES OUR LADY PEACE
Aaah yes, and who would we be if we were not excited, enthralled, and even interested in what OLP is up to now? Karen Bliss speaks on the studio aspect of OLP's up-and-coming album, with Bob Rock producing bits: OLP TO RECORD WITH BOB ROCK (October 25, 2001)
A new article from Ink 19 has come out with some background info on the name of Spiritual Machines, and on Raine's top ten songs: THE SOUL IN THE MACHINE
Now, we are all aware that Mike Turner and OLP recently parted ways. Mike had his say on the CC today, and we thought we'd put up the post for all you fine folks: MIKE'S SAY
And a new article is out about the new album!! It includes Jeremy's ideas/hopes for the album, a little about Mike, and some names for new songs: NEW OLP ALBUM A RADICAL DEPARTURE
With Mikes departure and OLP's apparently busy schedule, how WILL they find a new guitarist? Well, OLP has decided to pull a Limp Bizkit (methaphorically speaking) and do a "want ad". There's even an article on it: OLP TEARS A PAGE FROM LIMP BIZKIT'S BOOK
As some of us know, Jeremy helped out with the "Hero" video (Nickelback). That is, he was in the Hero video. Here's an amusing little article about the vid: NICKELBACK, SALIVA MEMBERS FAKE IT FOR 'HERO' VIDEO
OLP speak about working with Bob Rock on their new album: (warning, if you have a special place in your hearts for Mike Turner, don't read this....Maida disses out on Mike) OUR LADY PEACE ARE PUTTY IN PRODUCER BOB ROCK'S HANDS
With a Canadian tour comes a whack of surprises, two of which are a live DVD to be filmed in Calgary and Edmonton; and ALSO a live CD, which will be recorded in Calgary and Edmonton, and released in April. To read about it, see: OUR LADY PEACE TO RELEASE LIVE ALBUM
Now! I hope you had as much fun reading this as I did writing it (God, I make it sound like doing html is a fun thing...). We have more articles on the way, so come back and read it, you hooligans!!
