Duran Duran page

I was a member of their fan club for about 2 years. Theirs was the second concert I had ever been to. In Winter 1984 with my friend Penny, my cousin Maryanna, and her then-boyfriend (now husband) Jeff because I wasn't old enough to go without an adult. We met another friend there, John, and a friend of his. They had quite the entourage in those days: Back up singers (B.J. Nelson and Charmaine Burch), saxophonist (Andy Hamilton), percussionist (Raphael DeJesus). I think a band called Christmas Past opened up for them. We didn't get there until right when the opening band was finishing up due to my cousin's boyfriend being late picking us up and then not knowing how to get to Cobo Arena. While Penny and I anxiously awaited transport, we chowed down on some Nerds candies. We were up in the balcony area and quite far away. Luckily there was a video screen and the compensation of being on the same side of the arena as John Taylor. I can remember that he wore a grey pantsuit. I know they played 'The Reflex', 'Planet Earth, 'Girls on Film', 'Rio', 'Union of the Snake', then my memory doesn't recall the rest of the set list.

For the first time, the week of 8/23/99, I have actually followed Duran Duran from one city to another and to another. I wish I had thought to do this 12 years ago! Had a blast. Here is my road trip 'diary':

Here are the pictures that turned out from the Charlotte, NC show and some of Al, SuSaN and Brandon:

Duran Duran toured the U.S. again in 2000, so I did another road trip. It was, to say the least, incredible! Not to mention the fact that the set list changed for each and every show! Here is my D2K road trip 'diary':

With kind permission from Katy at www.duranduran.com, I have available for you the 'hidden' 50 Things about each band member. Several people I know have been unable to get to these via the couch picture (click on cigarette, then click on each of the three flames that appear on the couch in place of the guys). Anyway, here they are:

Some reviews/outlines of books and magazines that I own on them until permission is obtained from the publishers to copy them in their entirety:

Their Story

Inside Duran Duran

Duran Duran by Maria David

A Complete History of Duran Duran (magazine)

Duran Duran by Mike West

Duran Duran by Waldo Jeffers

Duran Duran by John Carver

The following book is the only one I have been able to duplicate in its entirety thanks to permission from the publisher:

Unfortunately, permission to put information from the Duran Duran book by Cynthia C. Kent was denied by Barbara Bennett at Kensington Books.

Note: Aside from Beauty & The Beast which came from an English magazine called NR One, I do not know what magazines the following articles came from. When I know the name of the author, I include it with the article. Hope you enjoy them.
