Well there's streamers and soft drink all over the floor, long winded speeches have been made and the cheap gold watch has been presented. That's right, you just missed the retirement party for The In-Betweens. After about four years of random updating and tinkering I've decided that one update a year (like last year) pretty much qualifies as retirement anyway, so I may as well admit it! :D

I'll leave everthing up until it falls into ruin - hell even when it does fall into ruin I'll still leave it here. All the same stuff is still here: pictures, stories, reviews, mp3s, quiz, and other goodies. Feel free to send me stories and other contributions - i'll still put them up. Thanks for visiting the little collection of electrical impulses and illuminated pixels that I get a kick out of referring to as 'my' 'website'. It used to be definable as 'a Ben Folds Five site' but now there's more to it (actually if you want to get all anal about it, I'm just giving proper recognition to the other stuff that was there before). Read on to become less (or possibly more) confused...

I was inspired to start the website in January of 1999 by the many brilliant Ben Folds Five websites I had vistited. I just had to try making one of my own, and it's become a really enjoyable and somewhat addictive hobby.

When I first began the site (as Clare's Ben Folds Five Site) it only had a couple of pages, but since then I've spent a lot of time (mostly when I should have been doing homework) tinkering around with it. I think I've re-done the layout four times now... and sometimes I even add some new content! It's been fun meeting other fans along the way and it's been rewarding reading your comments in the guestbook.

However as you probably know by now, Ben Folds Five is no longer. Around November 2000 the three members parted ways to concentrate on other interests such as solo careers. But I'm not going to retire the site just yet - I'm hooked.

From now on I will post any news I find about what Ben, Darren and Robert are getting up to in their respective careers, while leaving all the Ben Folds Five content online. But I'll shift the site focus a little more onto other areas (seems fair as there are a lot more of them).

And just to get a bit tricky, the whole lot is tied together with a concept. Don't worry, it's a pretty half-arsed concept. For the concept is thus:

THE IN-BETWEENS has always been, and will continue to be, about Ben Folds Five and its parts. But for an entity to be in between a set of boundaries (the boundary, in this case, being the loose description, "about Ben Folds Five") there has to be something outside, doesn't there? And, assuming this outside is infinite (which it is because I said so and it makes things a lot easier) anything that isn't in between the boudaries exists there in the outside. So... THE OUTSIDE encompasses everything else.

At the moment this 'everything else' includes a page on music and a page on me. But there is more to come... maybe I'll do something about art or websites or tele or adelaide ...who knows. If you have any ideas, whack em in the guestbook!

The music page will be big though. Once I have it finished it will include info on all the other music I love, as well as links and mp3s. I've had a page on 'other music' for as long as I've had the site, but now it will be better and bigger and louder and stuff. Y'see, if we both like Ben Folds Five then chances are we might have other musical tastes in common, so with this page I can introduce you to artists you mightn't have heard yet. I'm also thinking of adding a space for your input, so instead of it being just a one-way information sharing page you can tell me and everyone else about your favourite music too.

Depending on how busy I am in 'the real world', you'll often find a page or two under construction.. so don't forget to bookmark me and check back!
