Ball Characters |
A guide to Most of the Main
Characters in The DragonBall Series... |
Since Goku
was first Introduced as the Main Character of the DragonBall Series, He has met up with
some of the most interesting people in rare occurances. Friends become foe, Foe becomes
friend...Family always stands by, and always carries on tradition...Therefore a quick and
easy guide of all characters will be introduced in this Character FAQ, along with a short
description of each. Some Main Enemies Goku and Co. meet up with compose the main sagas of
the series. They include Boo, Cell, Freza, and the Androids. and some of them eventually
join our Hero's side. Most of these enemies were modeled after Akira Toriyama's Editors, a
different enemy modeled after each different editor that supervised him for a time period.
If there is any other information willing to be donated involving the characters please
contact me.
Songoku (Kakaratto) -
Songoku is the main character of Dragon Ball. He is married to ChiChi and had two sons.
Songohan and Songoten. His father is Bardock and has two brother(s) Raditz and Taurus. He
already has a Grand-daughter, Pan. He acquires techniques from training, but his main
fireball "KameHameHa" was learned with Kamesennin, while is training. He has the
hability to turn int SSJ1, SSJ2, SSJ3 (only one) and SSJ4 in GT. In GT Goku is aged 50,
but he becomes a child again, he loves eating and getting stronger. In SSJ4 mode, he can
teleport (in normal mode he cannot), and use Times-10 KameHameHa. He was originally found
by SonGohan, but came from Planet Vegeta - home of all the saiyajins. He and Vegeta are
the only two full-breed Saiyajins left since the destruction of Planet Vegiita. His name is
originated from Journey to the West's "Son-WuKong". Kakaratto means Carrot
in Japanese, and is his true name.
|
Vegeta (Vejiita) - Being a Saiyan
Prince, Vegeta is extremely proud of his Saiyan race. He is angered when a low-class
warrior, Kakarotto defeats him in combat, therefore he remains furious towards Goku. He
later marries Bulma (mistery!), and has a son named Trunks a half-Saiyan. His father is
the King Vegeta, he is married to Bulma and has a son and a daughter: Trunks and Bra. He
acquires Techniques from training, and his trademark fireball is the "BigBang".
He can turn into SSJ1, SSJ2(Cell Saga/become Super Vegeta) SSJ4(with help from a
special invention-in GT) Vegeta is supposed to mean
"vegetable" in japanese.
|
SonGohan - SonGohan is the main
character's first son. His father is Goku, his mother is Chichi, has only one brother:
SonGoten, is married to Videl and has one daughter, Pan. Acquires Techniques from
training with his father, and training with the Kaoshins. Can turn into SSJ1, SSJ2(during
Cell saga) and Battle-Form (normal mode but stronger than an SSJ). During DBZ Majin Buu's
saga, as we watch him going to university, and Son Goku dead, the perspective shifts to
him as the main character. His an half-blood saiyajin and in the start, he had also a tail
like his father. Gohan basically means "rice" or "dinner" in Japanese.
|
Trunks - Trunks Story is a complex saga
with different timelines involved. One involves his Future grown-up version, the other his
alternate present life. In DBGT he gets a bit like the first one. He can turn into SSJ1(in
the Future and Present) and SSJ3( With fusing ability: Gotenks). His father is Vegeta, his
mother is Bulma and has only one sister: Bra. Half-blood Saiyan. Has the ability to turn
SSJ in the future, as well as at a young age at the current time. GT Trunks has his
father's fighting sense, and his mother's clear thinking, which makes him one of the
strongest fighters. He is good with machinery like his mother, and becomes the GT team's
main pilot. In GT he is also the "Young President" of Capsule Corp. Because of
his big job, he dosn't has time to spend like SonGoku and Vegeta, and so he isn't as tough
as them. He is shy with womens. Trunks is based on the word for Men's shorts or the
english word "Trunks".
|
SonGoten - His father is Goku,
his mother is ChiChi and has one older brother: Gohan. He has an awesome
array of powers to use when he is fused with Trunks - "Gotenks". Half-Blooded
Saiyan, has the Ability to turn into SSJ at a very early age, just like Trunks.Goten means "Sky" in japanese.
|
Piccolo - From
the Planet Namek, the saga of the Piccolos involves a long story. Piccolo in this case was
first introduced in the last Tenkaichi-Budokai of the original DragonBall series. He was
the "good" Piccolo that was born from the bad one. In DragonBall Z, Piccolo
joins the good side and becomes Gohan's idol. He helps him train and stays faithful to the
whole crew for the rest of the series. He fuses with Nail permanently.Piccolo's name comes
from the musical instrument "piccolo". |
Bulma - Bulma has been with the series
ever since the beginning of DragonBall. She aids Goku in the finding of dragonballs, and
remians a companion and friend for the whole series.and later on setles down with Vegeta
and has a family. There seems to be no apparent reason why. She has a son, Trunks, and a
daughter, Bra..who takes on like her. Bulma supposedly means "bloomers" in
English.
ChiChi - The wife of Goku. She proposes the Goku
during childhood, where small Goku thought "marriage" was somethign to eat, so
he gladly agreed. Later on, during a Tenkaichi-Budokai Tournament, Goku faces her as a
young-adult but dosent rememebr her. When they fight again, she falls in love...and they
get hitched. They have two sons, Gohan and Goten-both being half-saiyans. Her father is
the Ox-King or Guamaoo.
Kame-Senin (Master Roshi) - Goku and Krilyin's
childhood trainer, he trains them in the "Kame-Senin" Style..which helps them
fly and learn special techniques. His trademark attack, the "KameHameHa"-is a
special fireball that he passes onto his students. Kame I think is supposed to mean
"Turtle" and he trains the boys by having steel turtle shells placed on their
back.
Kuilyin(Krilyin) - Goku's longtime friend, Kuilyin
meets up with Goku at a very young age. He is first a monk, and recieves Master Roshi's
training as well. At first they are competitive rivals, but then they become best friends
eventually. Kuilyin only is a strong fighter during the Freeza series, and later marries
Android #18 and grows old. They have a daughter, Marron.
Android #18 - First introduced in the beggining of
the Cell/Android series-Android # 18 is a half-human half-robot cyborg created by Dr.Gero
along with Android # 17 as an attempt to get revenge on Goku. Later on, she gets engulfed
by Cell, but is spared. It is found out that Kuilin has a crush on her. After the defeat
of Cell, they marry and have a daughter named Marron-(or chestnut in Japanese)-she joins
the crew and stays a main character till the end of the series.
Puaar - a special antomorph-shape shifter creature
that resembles a cat. It always hangs around Yamcha, and it seems it went to the same
kindergarden as Olong, the pig. During the beginning of the series it is more of a main
character.
Yamcha - We meet Yamcha as a desert rebel in the very
beggining of the series. Bulma first has a crush on him. Later on, he joins the group to
help them find the dragonballs as well. During DragonBall Z he goes under the training of
Master Roshi, and eventually trains with Tenshin-Han at Kaoshin's Planet. He remains strong
during the DragonBall series, and the beginning of the Z series. At the end of Z, Yamcha
is seen with more of a laidback look.
OLong - a Pig antomorph (ability to shape shift) that
accompanies the crew since the very beginning of DragonBall. He first is an enemy at the
beginning of the series, and is known as a little pervert that transforms just to raid
towns for girls and food. Young Goku is eventually dispatched and stops the maenace.
Eventually sides with Bulma and Master Roshi to donate his help. Later on, he just hangs
around-not much of a contribution to the team anyways. (named after type of tea)
Chazuu - a small, doll like creature that always
acompanies Tenshin-Han during training and fighting. He has special abilities like
physcopathic powers, but he isnt that strong of a fighter.
Tenshin-Han - A 3-eyed ally that befriends Goku
during DragonBall. He was an enemy before, but decides to join Goku and Co. for their
purpose of the DragonBalls. From then on, he remains a good character, and helps battle
all enemy threats...even during the Buu series he tries to fight Majin-Buu, but it ends up
he is too weak. He was mainly strong during the Piccolo and Vegeta/Raditz Sagas, as well
as the Freeza saga.]
Mr.Satan - A fighter that is introduced first in the
Cell-game series. He boasts of his special skills and brags about that his title ism the
best fighter on the earth. So, when he finally has a chance to prove it by going up
against Cell, it is known he is quite weak. His pathetic sense of pride leads him to
hiding under a big rock for most battles, and it ends up he claims the credit for
defeating Cell, where truly it was Gohan. He has a daughter named Videl that eventually
marry Gohan.
Videl - Mr.Satan's Daughter. Her name comes from
rearranging the word "devil" (see a pattern here?). She first meets Gohan in
Orange Star High School and becomes his girlfriend. Later on, after the Buu saga-they get
married and have a daughter named Pan, who shows alot of fighting spirit. (which makes
both Satan and Goku grandpas)
Dende - the young namek we find in the Freeza series.
He suffers from the conquerer's terror unleashed on his some planet, but is grateful to
the Z Warriors and their rescue of both the villages and DragonBalls. It ends up that the
elder is killed, therefore the role of Guardian of the Namek DragonBalls is given to him.
He gets to summon the Namek Dragon, Porunga, and speaks to fulfill the wishes. We discover
that the dragonballs on earth were created by a Namek God to instill hope into the
mortal's souls. Dende after the Buu Saga grows older and remains a close friend to
everyone.
Yarijobe - a samurai-character that appears in
DragonBall as an enemy, but remains a great help during the rest of the DragonBall Z
Series. He has possesion of a special type of seeds that give great amount of energy to
anybody who is weak, and constantly throughout the series they are used to replenish
energy when thier is no other hope of recovery. It is also known that he cuts off Vegeta's
tail when he is in full-monkey form, helping out Goku during their battle. He resides in
the sky-palace with his Cat companion.
New Characters in the Series
Bra - This is the daughter of Vegeta and Bulma, and
the sister of Trunks. she is first introduced in the epilouge of DragonBall Z, and is seen
attending the Tenkaichi-budokai as a spectator. She hasent acuired the fighting spirit
such as Pan, even though her father and brother are both great fighters. She eventually
appears again in DragonBall GT, as a loud and independent-minded adolescent.
Boo (formely Majin Buu) - The creature that was
fought at the beggining of the Boo Saga, with the appearance of his fat form. It is later
understood that the true form of the monster Boo was really a skinny little child, and the
fat form was just a curse palced on it when he invaded the Kaoshins years ago. When they
split apart, the fat Boo is turned into a cookie and is energy is absorbed. During the
battle, he is spat out and saves Satan's life from the evil Boo-He fights on our heroes
side and distracts the enemy long enough for Goku to prepare the Genki-Dama. Therefore at
the end of the series, Satan pleads for Boo's life to be saved--because he has saved his
life. All of them agree--and Boo changes his name to "Mr.Boo" when he lives with
Mr.Satan.
Ubuu (Oob) - During the epilouge at the end of
DragonBall Z, a young boy is seen that is paired up against Goku to fight. Goku senses
that he is actually the reincarnation of the evil boo that was fought 10 years ago, and
Vegeta looks in suprise. Goku explains that 10 years ago during the battle of Majin-Buu,
he had made a personal wish to himself that such an evil creature could have his soul
brought back as a good-natured human being...so he belives it was fulfilled. During the
battle, Goku is not suprised at this young boy's fighting potential--so he tells everyone
that he will take him as his student and train with Ubuu. He flies away into the horizon
with his student, and later on in GT--Ubuu becomes as strong as Goku..they end up training
once every year to improve their skills. (note: also in GT, Boo and Ubuu realize that
previously they were one, so they end up fusing together to become stronger)
Pan - The young daughter of Gohan and Videl exhibits
a great amount of fighting force for such a young age. During the Tenkaichi-Bodokai that
occurs during the epilouge at the end of DragonBall Z, Pan is matched up against a tough
competitor. Pan easily wins, and everyone is amazed. Her two grandparents, Goku and Satan
are proud of such strength.
