FELICIA'S APARTMENT/SAME DAY

LORNA and HAYLEY have just told FELICIA the story of Hayley's parentage. Felicia finally speaks when they finish.

FELICIA
I find it hard to believe that Luke wouldn't have told me about you---

HAYLEY
But he---

FELICIA
(holding up a hand)
Wait a minute, Hayley, let me finish. It's hard to believe, but it's not improbable. I know that Luke had secrets from me, secrets about his past, and since we were searching for Lorna, he may have thought that was enough for our own emotional well-beings.

LORNA
Whatever his reasons, she's here now.

FELICIA
Yes, she is. And I think that if Lucas were here right now, he'd be smiling on all three of us.

LORNA
I know he is.

HAYLEY
I want both of you to know that I'm not going to intrude. You already have your family. This doesn't change anything. I came here to see for myself, to see who my sister was, and who the woman was that my father loved. I've seen that.

LORNA
There is always room in a family, Hayley. There's always room for another person.

FELICIA
Luke would want you to be a part of our family, Hayley. We may not be blood-related, but that doesn't stop a family connection.

HAYLEY
You've already done too much for me. With the adoption, and talking to Ms. Love for me...I don't want to put you out anymore.

LORNA
Okay, let's stop that talk right now. You are not putting us out. You are not interfering. You are a part of the family now, whether you like it or not, kiddo, so get used to it. (She grins at Hayley) You'll learn that neither Felicia nor I takes no for an answer very easily.

HAYLEY
(with a small smile)
I'm starting to figure that out.

FELICIA
And while you're here, I've been meaning to ask you...did you get to a doctor yet?

HAYLEY
(shaking her head)
No...I keep meaning to schedule an appointment at the clinic, but I haven't had time.

FELICIA
Hayley, this is your health, and the health of your baby! It's not something to mess around with.

HAYLEY
I know, I know...

LORNA
Well, I want to schedule an appointment for you at the hospital. If it's a problem with cost, I'll pay for it. You should have the best doctors in Bay City caring for you during this pregnancy.

HAYLEY
No!

Felicia and Lorna both look at her in surprise.

HAYLEY (cont'd)
I'm not taking your money. Either one of you.

VICKY walks in. DONNA runs over to her. TYRONE and MARLEY are sitting at the kitchen table.

DONNA
Darling!

VICKY
Hi, Mom.

They hug each other.

MARLEY
Hi, Vicky. Are you okay?

VICKY
I'm fine, everyone. Really.

TYRONE
Well, I have to get back to Etta Mae's. Vicky, I'm glad you're home.

VICKY
Thanks. Tyrone, I'm really sorry about Toni. Tell Etta Mae I'm thinking about her and I'll see her later.

TYRONE
I will. Thanks.

Tyrone kisses Marley.

MARLEY
I'll talk to you later?

TYRONE
Yeah, I'll give you a call.

MARLEY
Okay, bye.

Tyrone leaves.

DONNA
(To Vicky)
Darling, can I get you anything?

VICKY
No, I'm okay. You guys don't have to wait on me.

MARLEY
Please, we want to. You took care of me when I was in the hospital and Mom when she needed you. Let us take care of you for once.

JAKE
Marley's right. All three of us are going to nurse you back to health.

VICKY
(smiling)

JOSIE AND GARY'S APARTMENT/SAME DAY

JOSIE and GARY stare at CASS after his news.

JOSIE
Already? You mean, a baby....already?

CASS
I've only met the girl once...but she seems quite positive about giving her child up for adoption.

GARY
Who is she, Cass?

CASS
She's someone that Felicia knows. A young girl, got into some trouble, and she's trying to remedy the situation. I told her that you two would be perfect to adopt her baby and she wants to meet you.

JOSIE
(walking away)
Wow...this soon...I didn't expect it this soon.

GARY
(following her)
Honey, if you're not ready, we can let her find someone else---

JOSIE
No, Gary, that's not it...and who knows if we'd get another opportunity this quickly. I'm just...stunned, is the word, I guess. When is she due, Cass?

CASS
In October. You'd have your baby in just a few months.

JOSIE
Well, of course, I'm interested. When can we meet her?

CASS
(smiling)
As soon as I can set up a meeting between the three of you. She would have to approve you, but I don't think that would be a problem.

GARY
This is amazing. It's really amazing...thank you, Cass.

CASS
Don't thank me, thank the birth mother. She's the one who'll be giving you this gift.

LILA
And you two will be such wonderful parents, I just know it.

JOSIE
We'll have to start getting the nursery ready. In fact, we might need to move to a bigger place. Maybe somewhere out near Mama and John, with a big yard for this baby to play in.

GARY
Honey, you're getting ahead of yourself...(He smiles at her)...but I think you're right.

LILA
We're going to leave now. We'll see you at the memorial service, though.

Josie hugs Lila, then hugs Cass.

JOSIE
Thank you so much, Cass....thank you for everything.

CASS
(smiles at her)
Take care of yourselves.

He and Lila leave, and Josie and Gary look at each other.

JOSIE
This baby isn't going to be a replacement for Gary, Jr...it's going to be an addition to the family. And we'll tell this baby all about his or her big brother, right?

GARY
And his or her Uncle Cameron and Aunt Toni. It's really true. We're going to be parents again.

As Josie and Gary hug, we;
