VICKY'S HOSPITAL ROOM/DAY
VICKY and PAULINA are still talking.
VICKY
Have you seen Amanda?
PAULINA
Not yet.
VICKY
She must be inconsolable right now.
PAULINA
Cameron meant the world to her.
VICKY
If it wasn't for Amanda, I may have lost the twins, you know.
PAULINA smiles.
PAULINA
See, Amanda's not so bad.
VICKY
She really helped me and I'll always be grateful to her for that.
PAULINA
Jake told me you found out the sex of the babies.
VICKY
We did. I knew it all along, but Jake had doubts.
PAULINA
Are you sure you can handle two girls? Daughters are a handful.
Just think, two little Vickys running around.
VICKY
Almost. One Vicky, one Marley.
PAULINA
Vicky and Marley - the next generation. Kind of scary.
VICKY
Very scary! At least they'll grow up together. I always wonder
what it would have been like if Marley and I had grown up like
twins. Doing the "twinny" things in grade school and
high school.
PAULINA
You probably would have driven Donna crazy.
VICKY
(Laughing)
Well, that goes without saying. I drove her crazy when I was 18.
PAULINA
It was hard adjusting to having a mother all of a sudden, huh?
VICKY
Yeah, it was. I mean, Bridget was great, and I thought of her as
a mother, but to come face to face with the woman who gave me
life was -- chaotic. It was difficult for both of us. I guess
you're finding that out with Remy.
PAULINA
Remy's great. I just don't want to push it. She's grown up on her
own and having a mother in her life takes some getting used to. I
don't want to suffocate her.
VICKY
Just love her, like you already do.
PAULINA
I want her to feel accepted by my family, especially now. I just
don't know how to make that happen.
VICKY
It'll happen. They love you, and they're going to love your
daughter.
PAULINA
Thanks, Vicky.
VICKY
Hey, what are best friends for?
They both laugh.
PAULINA
Now we need to concentrate on these beautiful babies you're
bringing into this world.
VICKY
No, you need to concentrate on your sister.
PAULINA
She's really going to need me right now.
VICKY
Yeah, she is. The same way I needed Marley when Ryan died.
PAULINA
What helps you get through something like that?
VICKY
(Shaking her head)
You just have to realize that this is what happened and you can't
change it. It takes a lot of time to accept it, and I don't know
that you ever really get over it. But you realize that your life
has to go on.
PAULINA
Maybe you should be the one to talk to Amanda.
VICKY
Actually, maybe I will give her some "Vicky words of
wisdom."
PAULINA
I'm sure she'll be looking forward to that.
VICKY
Doesn't everybody, Paulina?
VICKY grins and we:
FADE OUT
CORY MANSION/SAME DAY
RACHEL
Amanda, please don't blame Carl for this.
AMANDA
Why shouldn't I? If it wasn't for Carl, Cameron would still be
alive.
CARL
I'm sorry, Amanda.
AMANDA
Why did you ask him to go to Cory that night? Why couldn't you go
yourself?
CARL
I wanted to go.
AMANDA
But you didn't.
CARL
Cameron offered to go.
AMANDA
You could have stopped him! You knew it was dangerous and you let
walk out that door and into a trap set for you. It should have
been you, Carl!
RACHEL
Amanda.
AMANDA
I'm sorry, Mom, but it's the truth. One by one, people from
Carl's past come out fo the woodwork and it's always other people
who have to suffer the consequences of their revenge. Cameron
didn't deserve to die.
RACHEL
No one deserves to die, honey.
AMANDA
Except the person who killed him.
RACHEL
Amanda, let the police deal with it.
AMANDA
No. And if Carl won't help me, I'll do it on my own.
She leaves. Carl and Rachel look at each other.
FADE OUT
FELICIA'S APARTMENT/DAY
FELICIA is standing by her desk, rifling through some papers, as
the door opens. LORNA walks in with GABRIELLE, followed by
HAYLEY.
FELICIA
Well, hi, you three.
LORNA
Hi, Mom. Working hard?
FELICIA
Not really. There's my beautiful girl. (She lifts Gabrielle from
Lorna's arms) Hayley, this is a nice surprise!
HAYLEY
(nervously)
Lorna waned me to come talk to you.
FELICIA
(looking to Lorna)
She did? About what?
LORNA
Let me put Gabrielle down for her nap, and we'll all three of us
talk about it, okay? (She walks into the bedroom)
FELICIA
(looking at Hayley)
Is everything okay, Hayley?
HAYLEY
(shrugging)
I don't know. We'll find out in a minute.
Hayley clams up and doesn't talk again until Lorna comes out of
the bedroom.
LORNA
Gabrielle's asleep.
FELICIA
Lorna, what's going on?
LORNA
Mom, can we all sit down?
FELICIA
No, we can't. I want to know what this is about. Have you been
giving Hayley a difficult time about me helping her out?
LORNA
No, it's not what you think. Can you please sit down?
Felicia gives Lorna a withering look and sits on the couch. Lorna
sits next to her, motioning Hayley to sit in the chair next to
them.
LORNA(cont'd)
I did go talk to Hayley about everything you've been doing for
her. I was concerned that she was trying to con you out of
something.
FELICIA
Lorna, I told you---
LORNA
I know what you told me, Mother, but I had to make sure for
myself. But Mother....it's not what any of us thought. Hayley's
told me the whole story.
FELICIA
The whole story? What whole story?
LORNA
This is going to be a shock to you, Mom, it was to me, too. But I
just want you to know that I've checked it out, and it's true.
It's very true.
FELICIA
Would you just tell me already?
LORNA
(looking to Hayley)
Mom...Hayley isn't who you think she is. In fact, she's a lot
closer to both of us than either of us knew. She's Lucas'
daughter.
Felicia is speechless. As she stares at both of them, we:
