The Disciple |
Ah... my big entrance. Reawakened after 300 millenia of slumber, a strange Edenite with powers almost... magical begins a one-man war with the Xerobim and their allies. Can the North Am Elite Unit match wits with this monster? (Can't say I'm too fond of the ending, but then again... I can't think of a more honorable way to go.) |
"The Disciple" is the first of two large scale projects that explore what is means to be a believer, and what exactly we are believing in. Ryere Imoten, aka The Disciple, embodies the worst possible essence of religious zeal, a trait that many faiths and followers have embodied (think the Spanish Inquisition, Queen Mary's prosecution of Puritans). To him, it doesn't matter that his actions are unjust (in most cases, outright abhorable), all that is important is following his belief, and crushing anyone or anything that opposes his belief. He never once stops to question what he belives, instead having absolute faith in what he is told to be true, regardless of what it means, and the consequences that follow. The question could he be taking the wrong path never becomes an issue. I guess to summarize, this fiction is a parable of blind faith, and the dangers of not asking yourself what you believe, and why. This differs from my other Gundam works in that there really isn't any of the typical mecha battles (the small skirmish Quatre has with The Disciple really isn't a battle, per say). I kept it more a battle of wits, a war of intellect, partially due that I didn't want the battles to hide the message (which is rather discreet), and partially to break the mold of this sort of fiction. |
