Letters to the Editors
Editors,
I don't even go to your school, and this WILL probably win me "Loser
of the Week" in turn, but shit - leave [LotW] in. It's funny as hell.
-A Florida Resident
-No doubt: Loser is here to stay. More amazing is that The Subterranean
has reached the Eastern Seaboard. Rock on.
Editors,
Re: junior class leaflets. Grammatical errors can be spotted by skimming
through the already not so verbose handouts. Jolly Rancher was spelt "Jolly
Ranger," and run on sentences can be found in almost every paragraph.
Clearly, the writers of this newsletter were "incoheritized"
in some way during the production of it, either with beer or a few hits
in the head with a bat.
-IAznGuyNo14I
-Hey, but I like Jolly Rangers...they're jolly, and they're...rangers?
Editors,
Loser of the Week should stay...It makes the loser realize what they did
was stupid and everyone knows about it, too.
-JayZLink
-That's our goal. We don't want to humiliate people; we simply want to
effect a decrease in stupidity around here.
Editors,
Wow - that [memo] was interesting. I must tell you, I found sources who
confirmed the information you wrote. You are "guilty" perhaps
of not presenting any opposing points of view, but
not of printing inaccuracies and half-truths
-Fellow Member of the 4th Estate
-Thank you for your vindication of our journalistic integrity. We strive
to print only the truth we can verify.
Editors,
I just read your issues online. I'm impressed by the high quality of the
writing and the overall intelligence, passion, and humor. Nice work.
-A member of the Oceana HS Teaching Staff.
-We do our best. Thank you for the approbation.
Editors,
The Loser of the Week is the best thing ever! I was friends with a person
in there and they were mad but couldn't help laughing. It was a great
thing.
-Scloud68
-Hey, if you can't laugh at yourself, you have no business laughing at
anyone else, and where's the fun in passing that up?
Editors,
First of all, I would like to give my "kudos" to you folks for
the excellent job so far. To respond to "Put This in Your Pipe and
Smoke It," you state that many of the users of the drug are doing
so to be "rebellious." If this is true, then the legalization
could and probably will do more damage than good. The legalization of
it will take away its appeal, but people wanting to be rebellious will
only find another means of doing so. The second flaw is that even if they
made it legal for adults 21 years of age and older or even 18 and older,
it would not matter, as the bulk of its users are below the age limit
anyway.
-TheAmazingNoDman
-You raise good points, and thanks for the kudos. As far as rebellion
and age limits go, alcohol is legal, but I don't see its attractiveness
going away for teens. Legalized pot would likely be the same way. We seem
to want what we're not supposed to have. Legalized pot for 18 and over
still leaves pot for the under-18 crowd firmly planted in the "rebellion"
category.
