Marnavik Petrovich A Personal History Marnavik, often called Marni, was born in the city of Elzark on Vallum. His parents were
taking a leave of absence from their jobs with Clan Povgrodny. Their normal job with the Clan was to scout out goods for acquisition. They normally worked with the Ivan. Because of this, he has acquired some
knowledge of the potential value of weapons. His early life was somewhat typical for the son of merchants. He helped with whatever was needed to keep the family going. As a result he picked up
many minor skills for general living. As a result of helping with the ships they were on, Marni picked up the skills of a sailor. He also enjoyed his experiences traveling around the world with his parents. Marni usually has a pleasant disposition that gains him friends wherever he travels. This can come in very useful in his chosen profession. He was also brought up to treat everyone fairly and to
try to be helpful when he can. Religion has never been a big part of his training or life. If he worships any god it is probably Faviid, the Merchant. Although he has no real objection to any
other of the gods and gets along with most of their followers, especially when they help him. Marni does have the slight distrust of Semerh followers that is common to most merchants. Along the
way he came down ill with an unknown disease, and his parents had to buy a healing potion from an alchemist. The alchemist did not realize that the potion was flawed in a minor way. The potion worked but
also caused his flesh to acquire a taste that no animal can stand. Very few animals will attempt to take a second bite. At about 12 years of age, Marnavik was chosen by one of the mages in the
clan for training as a mage. Mages are useful to the clan for their ability to teleport people and goods from one place to another. Each of the mages is expected to learn at least one location on each of the
continents. At this time Marnavik has learned Celior on Keelbos, Azok on Hoansten, Elzark on Vallum, Blueturtle on Luvad, and Maxwell's Landing on Mrazak. Only the most senior of the mages are entitled to
memorize the headquarters of the Clan. It will be many years before Marni will ever reach such a position in the Clan. By the nature of his job Marni has spent many years traveling around the
world. This results in his being somewhat familiar with the geography of each region on Argilla. However, in no way can he be considered to be an expert. While traveling on Keelbos, he was
wandering through the Keelbos Desert, Marni found a small kangaroo rat that he has raised to be a familiar. He has tried to keep his familiar, whom he has named Waaloo, with him at all times.
Marnavik has been spending several years in training as a front man for the Clan. This primarily includes going from city to city and posting notices that a given ship is about to arrive. As a whole it can
be a very boring job, except for the bonus of the travel. The primary ship Marni works with is the Olga. Another part of the training includes learning to judge the value of potential trade goods. Marni can
accurately tell the value of gems and jewelry eighty percent of the time. While in training Marnavik developed a taste for fine food and drink. He also learned to play various games of skill. He
does not gamble since this is not considered proper for those representing Clan Povgrodny. One day in Blueturtle, after an especially fine meal, Marni went to bed and never appeared for
breakfast. People who went looking for him found no trace of him. It was assumed by most that he was kidnapped and being held for ransom. Others thought that he may have run out on his bills. Most
people discount this because of his affiliation with Clan Povgrodny. What really happened, was that he was kidnapped and taken to be a slave in a place best described by Wally Hardfoot as
"The Pits". This mines were part of the volcano at Yiloah. If it is determined who kidnapped him, the clan is likely to take a very dim view of those people. This means that they are
likely to be put under the ban of Faviid. If he ever escapes Marni will likely return to his job with the Clan, unless he can come up with something better. However, he will be a lot more
careful about where he stays when traveling. As of this time he is still stuck in the pits, trying to aide several of his fellow slaves in an attempt to escape. This is hampered by a time limit
caused by a lack of food and water. There are also other problems, like large quantities of ogres and an obnoxious apuku leader. After killing many ogres, Marnavik and his companions managed to
kill the mage, with a well timed sleep spell, they where up against and forced the apuku to escape. The party disposed of the mages body by throwing it into a pit of molten lava along with a ring that
violated the compact. They then managed to escape the island in get cured of the plague they were carrying. After reporting to the mages guild in Celior they returned to the pits to clean up the mess left by
a violation of the mages compact. Helped kill the psychic apuku in the A.P.R.of Fermaty. Helped party escape to the city of Elzark on Valum. List of other characters
