Tachibana Ukyo
A very unorthodox character, very fast in weapon slashes and executing moves, but very slow in walking and jumping. Make him lightning fast by running around, and avoid jumping unless to counter opponent jumps. His speed in using his moves is really unbeatable.
Vanity Sabre Snowfall Slash (
+ D)
Ukyo reach into his shirt and toss out an apple, doing nothing else. See what I meant by unorthodox?
Concealed Sabre Haze Hack (
+ slash)
Not a very good move to use, the damage it does is minor and it leave Ukyo open to an attack after the move is blocked. Combo it with a B or A slash before using it. If that is blocked by the opponent, try to follow up with an A button Concealed Sabre Swallow Swipe
Concealed Sabre Snowfall Slash (+ slash)
A much better because it does more damage than the Haze Hack and is faster than the bust version of Snowfall Slash. Its advantage is that opponents are pushed away if they block the move, and are unable to run over to give Ukyo a hit or a long-range C slash faster than Ukyo can recover. Player opponent who do not know this and hoping to catch Ukyo unblocking will only get hit instead. Use this with the A button and combo it after a B slash for Ukyo's best combo, and execute it even if opponent block the first slash; there is no harm since Ukyo is not exposed to attack after that. This works when the medium slash connect at close range and when the opponent is hit with it when he try to jump over, before he touch ground.
Concealed Sabre Swallow Swipe (
+ slash)
Favourite move of Ukyo fans. If done in the air, do a semicircle from back to front to execute it. But it is better used from the ground, using the directions above. Make sure that the stick is spun at least to the upright position or further back before hitting the button, otherwise the sabre haze hack move would come out instead. Using A button for the move when done from the ground make the move connect with opponents who do not block up at close range. The POWed version does tremendous damage, killing a character with four, five hits.
Use the sideswitch move to surprise the opponent and use the Swallow Swipe immediately - Use this trick sparingly (for me, only when I intend to use the POWed version of the move) so that the trick will not be too predictable.
Use the Swallow Swipe after opponent is hit by a running C slash, though it may be blocked if opponent block up even though they are hit by the running slash.
At very close distance, crouch and kick at the opponent repeatedly using D to get them to block down and then use the Swallow Swipe. Vary the number of times you kick each time before you execute the move; I find that kicking just once is very effective. If a slow character blocks the move and runs over trying to hack you, Ukyo can usually recover fast enough to slash the opponent instead, maybe with a C slash or another Swallow Swipe, when they are close. Doing this combo by sticking close to the opponent after he is done, you can effectively 'trap' him as he would have to block Ukyo's kicks first thing when he recover.
Using this move after a heavy slash (the rollover hit type of hit) usually guarantees a hit.
Use a B slash on your opponent, and a little while after the opponent block it and Ukyo's sword still showed as being drawn, use the Swallow Swipe to counter possible attacks by the opponent.
When the Swallow Swipe is done from the ground, the button used determine the height at which Ukyo would jump before he executes the move, A the lowest and C the highest. When the opponent jump over, use Swallow Swipe with C button to hit him out of the air.

Galford
Nakoruru: Beat her by just using the B slash - Sabre Snowfall Slash combo.
Genjuro: Quite prone to the Swallow Swipe move, and the A slash - Sabre Snowfall Slash combo. Kicking once before using the Swallow Swipe at close distance will make the move almost a certain hit. Using the A slash instead of B for the Snowfall Slash combo because Genjuro can often interrupt Ukyo with his B slash before Ukyo get the move executed. He can also be caught off guard by a sideswitch move, after which the Snowfall Slash combo can be used. Bait him with a kick at a reasonable distance to use his playcard projectile and jump over for a C slash.
Basara: Catch Basara in the air with Ukyo's C slash as Basara jump around very much. Otherwise on the ground use only A slash to be faster than his slashes. He use his chain-throwing move in the air quite often and Ukyo can run over to use his running C slash or his Super. A running slash combo with a Swallow Swipe is a sure hit, and a POWed version of the Swallow Swipe used in this combo will kill him quickly when done repeatedly.
Kazuki: Shifting back and using running C slash coupled with the Swallow Swipe slash continously work very well. When Ukyo stand close to him and he keep jumping , use C slash to hit him out of the air, and use the Snowfall Slash combo after that. Crouch down and give him a heavy slash if he jump over Ukyo.
Second set:
Basara
Hanzo
Charlotte: Use C slash to get close to her, and use the Snowfall Slash combo against her. She has this curious tendency not to block just after she recover, and so use the Snowfall Slash combo or a CD combo / Super Death combo when she just get up. Another jumping opponent to be countered with Ukyo's jumping C slash.
Kazuki: Refer to the section above.
Galford: Keep using C slash and guard crush, before using the Snowfall combo or the Super Death combo. As always when going against Galford, block down against his C slash and his Replica Attack.
Jubei: Jump over and use C slash in the air on him, and the B slash - Snowfall Slash combo on him, and repeat.
Amakusa:
Follow the method descibed in the General Tips section.
Zankuro:
Ukyo's C slash is very useful here against Zankuro. After blocking his sword / fist rush, his BC slash and even after his projectile move, Ukyo's C slash can be used to counter Zankuro. If Zankuro is disarmed, using the Snowfall Slash with the A button after a B slash kills him quickly. Otherwise, follow what the General Tips section advice.
Kyoshiro:
A character so defensive that I only know of one way against him, and that is to use guard crush throughout the game. After the guard crush pushed him away, use C slash, and when he is pushed to the corner, I would use the Super Death combo, then use guard crush and Super after that.
