Back from going nowhere for Christmas

I hope you all had a good Christmas and Santa, oops...err..mom and dad got you at least something that you wanted...hehe.  I know i did! Here's the scope for the upgrade that i got for my computer:

• AMD Athlon 550  
• FIC SD-11 Motherboard, capable of handling up to 800 Mhz
• 128 DIMM
• IBM 15.2 GIG HD (plus a 4.8 HD that i had in before, 20 Gig altogether!)
• New ATX case (ehh)
• DVD ROM
• 52X cdrom (should be getting that very soon)
• Diamond SpeedStar A200 w/ 8 megs
• Aureal Vortex2 SuperQuad sound card (not bad!)
• Viper 770 (soon)

Well, those are the new stuff i got for Christmas.  I've alway been a Intel guy and will alway be an Intel guy no matter if Athlons can out perform PIIIs or not.  It's just misfortune that i have to put up with AMD, but it's ok.  One of the reasons that i like Intel better than AMD is becasue it probably wouldnt give me as much trouble as my Athlon did when i was installing it.  Damn it, wasted so much time.  My new case isnt something to get all happy about either.  It was a little late to order a case online becasue i didnt wanna wait till it came so my brother took me out to Fry's to buys a new case.  Bad decision, all the cases there were som crappy looking and were not up to my expectations...or standards...if i had any which i do now.  I was looking for a case that has at least 4 five inch bays, but all there were were 3 bays....damn, and it doesnt even look cool either.  But i like the vents in the case, that'll help cool things down a little.

The SpeedStar A200 isnt a video card that can change the world or anything.  Infact, i think it's the casue of all the problems I'm having with my games...like Q3!  I even reinstalled the game and i still have the same problem of the computer freezing up.  This goes with all the games that i have also.  Well, no problem though, casue most likely I'll be getting a Viper 770 soon and that'll kick some ass with it's 32 megs of ram.  There are good and bad things with upgrading to a new hardrive the good is that you get a lot more space.  But the bad is you have to reinstall every fucking program and reconfig every settings to how it was before, a very time consuming task  That's why i havent been able to update for the past week or so.  So there's basically my new system ....oh yeah...I'm still using a voodoo 1.

Lack of Q3 News

There isnt really a lack of Q3 news, it's just I've been to busy to keep up with the news...being that my Q3 doesnt even work anymore.  I'll start up with the news again soon when i have some time and hopefully get my game working again

Preparing for Y2k

All you need is a good pair of running shoes and a quality crowbar nade from temperd steel.  And a list of stuff you didnt get for Christmas and a nearby mall, you're all set for Y2K.

Last Update of the Century

Man, does time go by fast or what?  I remember back in second grade, my teacher asked everyone to descibe was it going to be like ten years from then, which is now.  I just cant beleive that its been ten years already, not that second grade was inportant to me or anything it just seemed so fast.  Anyway, i remember describing how there will be flying cars (typical from a second grader) and how i'll be in college (that shows how stupid i was back then becasuse I'm still in highschool now or I could be stupid now for not being in college).  I remember telling her that I'd be rich and all that crap...shesh, was i way off there.  Well ok, this has nothing to do with the turn of the Century, I know.  But it just seems really interesting and sad in a way when i think about what I've done and where I've been in the last Century.  ....memories....sniff,sniff...

See you all next Century....not Mellenium, that's next year.

Q3 Total Control v0.5

A new version of Total Control for Q3A was just released a couple of days ago for anyone whos interested.  This little program lets you edit your .cfg file without the guessing that you would have to do if you edit the file manually, unless you know what you're doing of course.  TC also includes a number of little useful tools, like a fun name creater, pk3 explorer, key binding tool and a net tweeking tool to help you tweek your internet connection so you can frag a lot sweeter.  Check out the little app here.

Updated Q3 Guide

Here's an updated guide for your Quakin needs.  This time it includes more info for CTF, weapons, teamplay...and system/game tweeks for a better game.  Check it out.

Q3 .cfg Aliases

Check The Bind for some nifty binds and aliases for you .cfg file.  Lots of helpful stuff here and some neat tricks also, a must to check out.

Some Science News

Mark your calendars for December 22nd yall.  I'm not no astronomy person but something about the moon on that day will be 14% brighter and appear larger than normal.  This only happens every hundred years or so so make sure yoy check it out.  The last time this occured was December 21, 1866, now, if my math is correct that's about 133 years ago.  Just look at the moon for once on that day will ya, i dont know why.

Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer

Yep, finally got my hands on one of these babies.  Oh man, it is sweet!  The feel of it under my hands, the smoothness of it's movemnts, the extra buttons and the cool looks and tail light that it has is just awsome.  I dont have any problems with the mouse acting crazy when i lift it up like certain other sources said.  I'm pretty sure that it's becasue my mouse speed is set pretty high, that might be it.

Best of all, it worked on almost all surfaces that i tested except things like glass and mirror surfaces.  It even worked on my head!.  It's cool cause i can like sit back and surf the web by using the mouse on my pants legs. 

I'm gonna take a few pictures of it and post it here within a couple of days so check back for those.

Q3 Quickie

I finally got my copy of Q3 on Tuesday but unfortunately my computer was screwed up and so my cdrom couldnt read the Q3 cd properly so i didnt get to play it till friday, yesterday.  And from the few deathmatches and CTF games that i played with bots though a couple of maps, i think it was well worth the time reinstalling my Windows 98 for.  I'm sorry but i just havent played the game enough to be able to give you guys a full shake down of the game, but so far what i've seen has been quite pleasing.  Speaking of pleasing, that Slash skin is one hellova chick...I'd run around  killing myself just to see her body...hehe.  My computer is barely handling the game...those damn maps that are so full of graphics just kill me literally.  I still like the user interface from the test v.108 better than in the retail release version.  It's always the few little things that get to me first.  Oh well, hopefully, maybe, i'll do a little review on Q3 soon once i have time.  I know for sure it wont be anytime withing the next 2 weeks though.

Sup

So, hows it going?  It's been a while huh? hehe.  I know i havent been updating like i should be with the release of Q3 and all, but i've been pretty stressed and lazy...not to mention, i didnt get my copy of Q3 yet.  Maybe within another week or so.  Plus, there's not really much new for Q3 anyway...well ok, i might have exaggerated that a little.  There have been some major news dealing with Q3 like some CD key trouble that some people have had and cheats and all that good stuff.  Sorry for the hasty news today but I'm kinda busy and will probably still be for the next couple of weeks.
