POKEMON BASIC RULES
1 Shuffle deck, draw 7 cards
2 Each player needs a basic pokemon to start. If not, player
with no basic shows hand to opponent and
reshuffles deck and draw 7 new cards. Opponent has the option
to draw 2 extra cards Repeat until both
players have basic pokemon
3 Choose 1 basic pokemon as the active and place it face down
4 Both players have the option to place face down up to
5 basic pokemon in the bench
5 Take the top 6 cards from the deck and play them
face down as prizes. Prizes are taken when a
pokemon gets knocked out of battle
6 Flip a coin to determine who goes first
7 Flip all pokemon over and start the game
Each Turn
- draw a card
Asleep
-pokemon can’t attack or retreat
Confused
-flip a coin when pokemon attacks or retreats
Paralyzed
-pokemon can’t attack or retreat
Poisoned
-place poison marker on pokemon
All pokemon that return to the bench are cured of asleep,

one would like
* put a basic pokemon on the bench
* evolve a pokemon (except on the same turn a
basic was put out)
* attach a energy card to a pokemon (only once per turn)
* play a trainer card
* retreat the active pokemon
* use pokemon power
- attack with the active pokemon
- turn is over
-pokemon is turned sideways to the left
-after each player’s turn, flip a coin. On
heads the pokemon is no longer asleep and on
tails, the pokemon
is still sleeping
-pokemon is turned up side down
-when retreating player must pay retreat cost
first, then flip a coin
heads is successful, tails failure
-when attacking, flip a coin
*heads attack is successful, tails pokemon
does attack to itself for 20 points of damage
-pokemon is turned sideways to the right
-pokemon recovers after the player’s next turn
-as long as pokemon is poisoned, at the end of each
players turn the pokemon takes 10 points of damage
confused, paralyzed, and
poisoned, it is also the same if a pokemon evolves
**Pokemon CAN NOT be asleep, confused, or paralyzed
at the same time but
CAN BE poisoned with asleep, confused, or paralyzed
