Here, Tom and Daisy’s daughter Pammy was taken to show off in front of their guests. Earlier in the paragraph, it is seen that it was not Tom or Daisy who took the time to dress Pammy, but it was the job of the nurse. It is also implied that this is not the only instance where Tom and Daisy leave the work and responsibility of their child to the nurse. Here, together, Tom and Daisy created another human being, yet they hired somebody else to do the work of changing and dressing. However, seeing as Tom and Daisy are fairly immature themselves, is it better that they are not the ones primarily in charge of Pammy? |
