Here is the information some of you have been waiting for. The list of known factions on the Ranma ML. If you have an idea for a faction and actually go through with it, please send your faction information to us and we will write up a file for it and place it on this FAQ, or if you see a faction that should be listed here, please tell us. Or in any case please Email me, or my partner in crime and tell us what you thought of the site.

COHD

Full Name of Faction: Cathedral of Hiroshi and Daisuke
Founder: Kaoru

History of the COHD:The COHD - Founded by Kaoru, the acronym stands for the "Cathedral of Hiroshi and Daisuke" - I think the purpose of the faction is to garner support or at least awareness of Ranma 1/2's least seen "regular" characters. And for the fact that they need some kind of recognition, for being "the boys". ^_^

Number of members; Errr.....hmm...well, of the active members, I know of Me and Arnold.....anyone else care to join or remind me or Arnold that they're COHD, too? ^_^

There are many factions within the Church of Nabiki. These factions are better explained on the CoN Homepage. They include religious, economic, military and underworld connections.

At present the CoN continues to strive forward stronger then ever.

THe porpose of the CoN:The main purpose of this faction is to provide a forum for those that adore Nabiki for any reason. We are united to perform some service in the name of Nabiki. We also answer questions, deal with criticism, and punish any attacks concerning Nabiki.

Notable posting ML members aside from myself: ShouRyu (soon to be back), hiroshin-ken, Frank, Fritz, PIMoSDL (where is she?), Yumeko (temp unsubbed) and a few more I just can't recall without checking the roster. (Mental block).

CoRK

Full Name of Faction: Church of Ranma-Kun
Founder: 'High Priestess' Esashi
Second in command: Archbishop Johney
Number of members: Currently 13 and growing.

History: Established December 15, 1997. December 19, 1997, the CORK Monthly newsletter was created.

Why did it form: There was other organizations like the Church of Ranma, but that died long ago. No other organization was actively supporting Ranma-Kun. That's when we decided to go in. CoRK was officially established, and most of the members began to trickle in. On the 20th of December, CoRK had it's official web page with member listings. On the 23, the CoRK Monthly Newsletter began it's operations.

The purpose of CoRK: The main purpose of this faction is to provide a forum for those that adore Ranma-Kun for any reason. We are united to perform some service in the name of Ranma-Kun. We also answer questions, deal with criticism, and punish any attacks concerning Ranma-Kun.

CORR

Full Name of Faction: Church or Ranko and Ryouga
Founder: FriTz

Brief History of the CORR:...Hmmmm.... The faction was created on September 28th, 1997 under the support that Onna-Ranma and Ryouga make a great couple. FriTz- founder, Yumeko- co-founder.

Offical (long) name of the faction: Church of the Perfect Couple: Ranko & Ryouga (CoPC:RR).

Purpose of the CORR: This faction is devoted to the fact that Onna-Ranma Saotome & Ryouga Hibiki should be together and make the perfect couple. It is not involved with boy-type Ranma in any way and so therefore allows people to join who think that boy-type who be with someone else as long as they feel that the girl-type should be with Ryouga. The purpose of the faction was originally to make a mockery of the other factions, but when strong support for the faction immediately appeared, I decided to go and make it a legit group.

The CORR Web Page: The Church of Ranko & Ryouga Web Site was created on October 20 and houses a membership list, R&R related fanfics, R&R related pictures, and other R&R related things (the Top Ten list, for now). The official CoRR mailbox is at ranko_ryouga@hotmail.com. That's all I can think of for now, since we're relatively new.

CotMoHW

Full Name of Faction: Church of the Master of Hidden Weapons
Founder: Megane Hibiki

Number of members: Somewhere between 2 and... well... 2..

Brief History of the CotMoHW: Among the general mob of people in the everyday Ranma-verse, there existed one who pursued his love with a persistence to match the gods. He was a skilled martial artist, able to contort the largest of weapons and hide them within the confines of his pure white robe. He has gone unnapreciated by many until now. Enter the CotMoHW. (Pronounced as 'koht-MAH-hwa')
Mousse needed worshippers. Everyone else had them, but Mousse didn't. So, Megane, avid fan of Mousse, decided to fix that. So he put together the CotMoHW, which is for the worship of Mousse-sama, obviously.

Purpose of the CotMoHw: Basically to let people know that Mousse is cool.
We are the defenders and supporters of Mousse, the Master of Hidden Weapons and All Things Avian. Our male members (or female members, if you just happen to be that way) also may lust after Shampoo freely. Other than that we exist for kicks.

What people need to know to join: Well...that Mousse rules!

Any other intersting side notes: We have only two members. Isn't that pathetic? ^_^ Anyway, our mascot is Shampoo-clone.

EOE

Full Name of Faction: Equal Opportunity Ecchi
Founder: Bradster leader 1/97-10/97, 1/98-?)

number of members: not too many (the few, the proud....the perverts)

Brief history of EOE: founded by Bradster, the self-proclaimed Emperor of Ecchi, somewhere around January of 1997, during a particularly heavy period of RP on the ML. Asked by some soon-to-be-members what qualifications he had to be the leader, Bradster posted a list on the ML that ranked his opinion on how he would like each of the girls from Ranma in his bed, from Natsume to Azusa. Temporary leadership handed over to Arnold Kim in October of 1997 during the period of time that Bradster unsubbed.

Originally the Princes of Perversion, the name was changed to be more gender-friendly, since females were also welcome to join. Some of the "sibling" groups of the EOE (being formed at roughly the same time) include the UGMA, OLA, AD, and KTF.

Purpose of EOE: A group of hentais gathered together in the support of each other and of hentai behavior on the ML, the EOE holds no allegiance to a particular character of the series, though members are not discouraged from joining another ML faction that has a favorite character as its basis. Admittedly one of the spam groups of the ML (though posts are infrequent), the EOE adds a little ecchi spice to both the RP scenarios as well as Ranma topics when it suits us. EOE members are usually prominent contributors to the breast size thread when it periodically returns to the ML, though strangely enough, almost never its instigators.

Members don't have to be raving lechers/esses like Happosai- just able to admit that they enjoy topics with a sexual theme, and don't mind showing it now and then.

KTF

Brief History of the KTF: Formed on January 15th (I think) of 1997, the Knighthood was in response to a thread about the order of the engagements, and the validity of each. I, of course, asserted that Akane's was the most proper no matter what criteria you used, and formed the KTF for the purpose of maintaining that. The KTF grew slowly but surely, and is now probably one of the largest character groups on the net, and definately on the ML.

Purpose of the KTF: The Knights of the True Fiancee have sworn to defend Akane's engagement to Ranma, and by extension, Akane herself. Most of our members list Akane as their favorite female character, but there are several who do not. The only criteria for being part of the KTF is the belief that Ranma and Akane belong together.

In order to join the illustrious Knighthood, a person must accomplish three impossible tasks:
1. Ask me to join (ranmakun@mailexcite.com)
2. Tell me their name and weapon of choice (all Knights must have a weapon), and

3. Mudwrestle Hans the Giant Tree Frog and his Anaconda of Doom.

All new initiates recieve a tree frog, their name on the KTF roster page, and they get to put 'Sir' in front of their name. (Unless they are female...then they get to put 'Dame' in front of their name.)

OLA

Full name of the Faction: Our Lady of the Axe
Founder or Current Leader: WebDragon (Leader: Kasumi (2)
Second in Command: Ted Wang
Number of members: 5

History of the OLA: The OLA was founded in late 1996 by WebDragon. Created from the character in one of his fics, "Kasumi the Axe Murderess", and from the Kasumi portrayed in the Evil Oni story, Kasumi (2) arose as the resident entity of justice and revenge on the Ranma ML. Surrounded and protected by those of the OLA, she acts of her own accord and metes out justice to those deserving in the form of horrible backrubs or chops with her axe.

Intent or Purpose of OLA: Unswerving loyalty to Kasumi (2), and protection of her at all costs.

Instructions to Join: Each member of OLA has a something called a "shing", the sound made by their respective weapons. The shing itself as originally made is done by Kasumi (2), when sharpening her nails (*shing**shing*). Others have taken various other shings depending on their weapons (@shing@@shing@, #shing##shing#, etc.). Thus you must firstly get approval for a shing and then swear your loyalty to Kasumi (2).

OCS

Full Name of Faction: Order of the Cold Shower (Tsumetai Shawaa-Kai)

Brief History of the OCS:The OCS, or "Order of the Cold Shower" or "Tsumetai Shawaa-Kai" was founded in the dim, misty past (October 25, 1995) by Albert Lunde. The OCS is an organization for the followers of onna-Ranma. Membership is open to all, regardless of age, sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, species, shoe size, or Internet provider. OCS is one of the less serious-minded of the Ranma 1/2 ML character sects and factions, perhaps because we don't have a major role in the "best babe wars". The OCS does not keep formal membership rolls. If you want to join the OCS, just post a note to the mailing list saying so and/or add something to your signature.

SAUCE

Full Name of Faction: Society for the Appreciation of Ukyou, Cuteness Embodied
Founder: Bradster
Second in command: none that I'm aware of- delegated as needed.
Number of members: embarrassingly few ^_^;;

Brief History of SAUCE: Created in May of 1997 (or thereabouts) because there was no active Ukyou faction on the ML. Plans to make it a Net organization with a home page are unlikely.

Purpose of the Faction: Support the Lady's personality, motives, actions, and anything else that makes her your favorite character. Provide moral support for the disproportionately small number of other Ukyou fans on the ML.

What people need to know to join: It's not necessary to think that she's cuteness embodied (it makes for a neat acronym though), but she should be your favorite, or at least 2nd-favorite character. Call me fussy, but I don't see what good it does to have favorite-character factions if you're going to join two or more of them.

Side Notes... : Due to the fact that there are members of SAUCE who think that Ukyou is Ranma's True Fiance, and those who think that this dubious honor goes to Akane Tendo (Knighthood of the Tree Frogs) but still think Ukyou is their favorite character, the controlling powers at SAUCE will remain neutral on the subject.

TFLO

Full Name of Faction: Takahashi Females Liberation Organization

History of the TFLO: Born out of a savage hatred for Ranma Saotome, the TFLO is now dedicated towards freeing the Takahashi females from the grasp of their main male counterparts. (Ranma, Ataru, and Godai)

Purpose of the TFLO: To sway the tide of public opinion from the current favorable light in which it views the wretches Saotome and Moroboshi.

Membership goal: Total world conversion to the TFLO.

Tendo Kasumi School of Philosophy

Full Name of Faction: Tendo Kasumi School of Philosophy

History of the TKSP: The Tendo Kasumi School of Philosophy was founded in September of 1996. It's official anniversary takes place on September 26. There have been approximately 106 'official' students of the school since its conception. There is a list of members who have either 1.) Contributed to the school in some fundamental way, or 2.) Been a subscriber of the Ranma Mailing List at one time. The Tendo Kasumi School of Philosophy has members in every other major faction of the ML.
At one time, it had the largest membership of any other single organization on the ML. Whether this is still true or not is unknown. It is the faction that promotes peace and good will, emphasizing others before yourself in kindness and enlightenment. The Tendo Kasumi School of Philosophy is aimed at enlightenment as its main focus, specifically enlightenment through the tenets of Kasumi-sempai. Speaking simply and concisely, these are:

Encouragement

Background on the TKSP:The Tendo Kasumi School is based upon our founder, and inspiration, Tendo Kasumi. Along with publishing in several well known Philosophical Journals, Kasumi-sempai has appeared on Television as herself in the Ranma Nibunnoichi series in Japan. The tapes of Kasumi's appearance on this show are available in America, and every other 'civilized' country wherever upstanding philosophical material and documentaries are sold.
The basis of the show is Kasumi as a young woman (19), who takes care of her family after the death of her beloved mother. Her family consists of her father, Tendo Soun, Tendo Nabiki, her next youngest sister, and Tendo Akane, the youngest of the house. The plot of the series is how Kasumi deals with the heavy domestic demands of running a household and taking care of her family.
As an interesting little side plot, her youngest sister, Akane, is forced into an engagement with Ranma, the son of her father's friend. The trouble that this brings to the household adds spice and tension to the main plot, as Kasumi is forced to deal with the additional demands. It is through her philosophical wisdom and teaching that the series exhibits the way of life that we all would like to attain through Kasumi-like enlightenment. The qualities that Kasumi exhibits in this docu-drama is the real purpose of the long running series. It is through the observance and practice of Kasumi's wisdom and near oblivious patience that this series provides an abundance of teachings and Kasumi Philosophical treatises that are the aim of the Tendo Kasumi School of Philosophy.
Why the series is named after the minor, sideline character of Ranma, we will never know. If you would like to make an addition or revision to this article, please contact the proprietor. After all, this school is for the use of the students.

The founder of the Tendo Kasumi School is Mortal, who is also the Proprietor. You may find some serious philosophical explications of Kasumi, her behavior, and it's relation to Taoism on the School's page. Also on the page, you will find the Ranma Mailing List Museum, with pictures and biographies of a few of the members of the Ranma ML (anyone who will send me info). Plus you will find the current year's Edgar awards for the Ranma ML. At one time the Tendo Kasumi School of Philosophy had a mailing list of its own, but the proprietor no longer has time to maintain said ML. Any person wishing to gain enlightenment, either humorous, or sincere is welcome to join the school and contribute to world understanding, by adding their own unique spin on the universe.

UGMA

Full name of the Faction: Unlucky Gods Martial Artists
Founder or Current Leader: Insane-kun
Second in Command: Kunou
Third in Command: Frank, Justicar
Number of members: 16

History of the UGMA: The UGMA was originally created to protect its founder, Insane-kun, from the machinations of the OLA. Working off of a parody of the Lucky Gods Martial artists in the first Ranma movie, each UGMA member has a "Gate" through which they were supposed to protect Insane, who was at the final Gate, Gate 0. In more peaceful times, however, the Gates and their members have expanded their protection circle to include the entire ML-verse.

Intent or Purpose of UGMA: Protection of Insane-kun, ML

Instructions to Join: One must first swear loyalty to UGMA's leader, Insane-kun. Then one must choose a vacant Gate to occupy and to use it as seen fit. The current Gate list (as of 3/21/98) is as follows. Click on the Gates in the link color to find out more about them.:

USSRTFW:SR

Full Name of Faction: United Support for the Star of Rumiko Takahashi's Finest Work: Saotome Ranma

The USSRTFW:SR's Mission: "We have only one duty, and that is to protect Ran-chan from any slander, libel, and aspersion, as well as any unjustified accusation, denunciation, condemnation, discommendation, and other such -ations of his person." We are a club founded on the belief that Saotome Ranma is not to be unjustly criticized. Since we are a defensive club, we are in most cases peace-loving and amiable towards other factions. But if any slander of Ranma is detected, woe be to that unlucky perpetrator!

Description of the USSRTFW:SR's line of "power": A President and an Administrator oversee actions, but members are largely free to act as they choose. Most club action is taken on the Ranma ML but is not necessarily exclusive to it.

Foundation Date: Founded on July 21st , 1997 as the Unconditional etc. Changed to Universal the next day. Established as United the day after. (Dates are estimated, could check the archives to be sure...)

The USSRTFW:SR's History: Got it's second member a few days after its conception.
Attained a webpage The Official USSRTFW:SR Website on Aug 25.
Official 'rules' proclaimed Sep 1st.
Haven't really been around long enough to have much of a history.

The USSRTFW:SR rules aren't as rigid as they seem to be... The Founder and her second just decided that since they were only a defensive group they had to establish some type of rule system to figure out what their 'boundaries' were...
