He is mild tempered and notices everything,
    including small details.
He likes to do things for people,
and so serves as coordinator and leader of the group.
He does not like to initiate fighting,
and always makes a point of judging matters from afar.
    He is a master spearman,
and his deadly technique is Choryuha.

    (Laminate information.)

Ah Shin. My favorite Samurai Trooper. Isn't he so cute? He is the wearer of the Suiko (Raging Water or Water Margin) yoroi. He draws strength from water, can breathe under water and more than likely control water. Shin is undefeatable in his element, which didn't help him much as most of the battles he fought were on the surface. He seems much weaker than the others on dry land. A possible side effect of his yoroi is that he can communicate with marine life.
Shin's symbol is a yin yang, minus the eyes. I am not quite sure why that is the symbol for Suiko, it seems to fit Shin himself better. Unlike the symbols for the other yoroi, Suiko's symbol is not on the yoroi itself. It is on the head of the Suiko yari. His kanji is Shin (a different spelling than his name) which translates to truth, faith or trust.
Unlike the other nine yoroi, Suiko has three distinct weapons. A yari, a tanto, and a pair of claws on the right forearm. We only see Shin use his yari, but we can assume he knows how to use the others. Shin's special attack is Choryuha. Generally this is how it goes. He aims his yari at his target and focuses his mind. A watery-blue energy surrounds him and a bubble of water appears at the yari's three tips. He calls out his attack, and a pillar of water emerges, with all the force of a tsunami.
During the entire series, Shin lived in an apartment in Tokyo, which is where he is going to school. He originally comes from Yamaguchi in the Hagi Prefecture, which is where his ancestral home is.
Shin has a very sweet and gentle personality, and is very considerate of others. The flip to this is that when he gets angry, watch out! This is when he is at his most dangerous. (As the MaSho realized in the TV series, and Touma and Shu realized (painfully) in Kikoutei Densetsu . . . ).
One of the first thing people probably notices about him is his taste in clothing. It is . . . different is a good word to use. He alternates from dressing nice (like Seiji) too casual (like Ryo and Touma) too totally bizarre. (Red plaid slacks and a yellow blazer??? At least he has the panache to carry it off.) The other is how responsible he is. Once he finishes his schooling, he will be taking over as the head of the Mouri family and the family business. That is a lot to have to live up to.
He has a variety of hobbies and interest. He enjoys cooking, and knows the Japanese tea ceremony. Shin also does ikebana, Japanese flower arranging. (Note. This is not a sissy hobby. This art form was practiced by the ancient samurai.) His favorite sport is basketball, I am not sure if he just watches it or actually plays it. I am betting he does both. Shin also enjoys water sports. We see him surfing with Shu in Kikoutei Densetsu, and he is probably an Olympic level swimmer.
Shin is the actual leader of the group, as he takes care of everything when they are not fighting the Evil Empire (That's Ryo's job). Like Nasutei, he tries to keep everything running smoothly.
I love Shin. He is so cute, so sweet and kind, and so fierce when he is angry . . . (Gushy background scene full of flower petals here . . .) Seriously, I really like Shin. As mentioned on my homepage, my introduction to Troopers was thru the first two OAV's, which had a more equal distribution of focus on the characters. (Mainly in Kikoutei Densetsu.) Despite the fact that I normally like blonds, I was more drawn to Shin than to Seiji. I am not sure why. I liked how he looked, I liked his voice, (I am very big on seiyuu,) and I liked how he came across over all. To me, he had more, oh, I don't know what word to use, feeling? than the others.
Well, I had better stop here, or I won't have anything to say about him in his shrine.

    Shin from Kikoutei Densetsu

    Mouri Shin

Age: 15(TV series), 16 (Gai Den), 17 (Kikoutei Densetsu), 18 (Message)
    Height: 5'4" (at age 15)
Weight: 118 lbs. (at age 15)
    Birthdate: March 14, 1974
    Hair color: Auburn brown
Eye color: Green (starting about episode 16 of the TV series the colorist messed up and turned his eyes brown for ten or so episodes. Brown eyes do not suit Shin at all.)
    Astrological sign: Pisces
    Blood type: A
Family: We never see or hear his family in the anime, on the CDs or in the cassette books (that I know of). His father died while he was a child. Nothing else is known about him. A picture from episode four of 'Kikoutei Densetsu' shows Shin at age ten on a cruiser with his parents. If this is accurate, his father had to have died not to much after the picture was taken.

Shin's mother took over the family business at her husband's death until Shin's elder sister was old enough to take over. She has a weak heart and is often sick. Shin worries a lot about her.
Sayoko, Shin's sister, is ten years older and helped in his upbringing. She became engaged during the TV series to Shizuka Ryuusuke, who is marrying into the family. It is safe to assume that by the time Message came around that they were married.
From various sources I have encountered, which I cannot remember, it seems that Shin's family, including his brother-in-law, know about Suiko and of his destiny. Shin did use his yoroi crystal in front of his future brother-in-law on a visit home with Shu. Not sure when it happened, but it had to have occured after the TV series.
