My Impression on the album 'TIERRA'

This is L'Arc~en~Ciel's first major debut album. It is released on July 14, 1994. Everytime I listen to it, I'm loving it more and more! ^_^

1) In the Air (words : hyde music : hyde)

The string guitar intro is very clear, very quiet. Then Hyde's voice enters and it develops along with other instruments. I find this very difficult to improvise on the piano! (May be I'm dumb?) The change of key is killing me...not to mention the pattern of notes...sigh...gotta get the score for this.

2) All Dead (words : hyde music : hyde)

Can't stop listening to this one! Although the lyrics are pretty dark ("..I wish you're all dead"), but the melody (by Hyde again!) is good! This is obviously not a happy song, it is rather gloomy compare to the first one. This song is almost half English and half Japanese. Hyde's English is good and his voice....!!!! ^_^ It has an medium-fast tempo. Melody is catchy, which makes you want to sing/hum along.

3) Blame (words : hyde music : tetsu)

Very smooth intro with acoustic guitar. Then Tetsu's bass enters and the song starts to live up! A mellow molody at the beginning then developes into the climax of the song. I like the bass line in this song (yay Tetsu!), it has a nice melody. At the end Hyde becomes quite emotional with "la la la....". My favorite part of the song!!! *_*

4) Wind of Gold (words : hyde music : ken)

My favorite L'Arc~en~Ciel song!!!!!!! It has a latin-ish feel, very very romantic. This song has a smooth melody, Hyde sings in a rather low key. I don't know how to describe this song, it is just very very beautiful!!! I think their trip to Morocco gave them the inspirations! Hyde's voice is in-des-cri-ba-ble!!!!!!!

5) Blurry Eyes (words : hyde music : tetsu)

The opening theme of the anime "DNA^2". Everyone likes this song! It is fun, catchy, and very cute!! My favourite line is "kono ryoutesoshi nobete mo kokoro wa hanarete..." It is really great!!! the video of this is also very fun to watch too!!

6) Inner Core (words : hyde music : sakura)

This one is by Sakura!! Wow!! I was so amazed!! The only song that's written by him and it is excellent!! lots of bass, percussion, and guitar. It gives me a similar feel to "Taste of Love" (from DUNE). The narration part is great too!! I think it is Sakura who did it. And not to mention the most incredible, the most SUGOI part of this song (or of the whole album) - Hyde's laughing/crying/screaming at the end!!!! I was shocked!!

7) nemuri no yosete (words : hyde music : ken)

contrasting to the last track, here comes a soft, light beat, beautiful song. It is like a release of tension from "Inner Core". This one starts off with acoustic guitar and has a very moving melody. I love this song very much too!! But sometimes I wish they hadn't change the arrangment from using acoustic to electric guitar...anyway, the video of this is beautiful!! Very dreamy and pretty!!

8) kaze no yukue (words : hyde music : ken)

This song didn't leave any impression on me the first time, but after watching the video, I love it!!!! See how visual help can lead to a difference??

9) hitomi no utsuru mono (words : hyde music : ken)

I fell in love with this song almost instantly! This song only has Hyde and piano accompaniment (how I wish I am the pianist!!) It is the slowest and the most quiet song in the album. Hyde's voice is very touching and soothing!! My favorite part is "tori to sora to anata ga iru..". The song ends with sounds of children playing (sounds like it is in a park or in a school, cuz I can hear the bells too) and a piano solo.

10) White Feathers (words : hyde music : ken)

What a nice song to end the album!! It is the longest - about 7 minutes!! I can go non-stop listening to this one too. Let me try to describe this song, it is beautiful (you can never fail to use this words with L'Arc's song ne! ^_^) , flowing, emotional, harmonious, charming, romantic, angelic, dreamlike...I can go on forever!! ^^;; My favorite part is of course the "Will you please tell me the way to the sky..". Sigh, I remember I was on a beautiful beach (at Fort Lauderdale, Florida) at 5-6 am in the morning waiting for the sunrise. I was listening to this song, looking at the ocean...the sun started to rise and a beautiful sea-gull just flew across the sky (white feathers...)!! It was so amazingly beautiful!!!!!!! ^_^

p.s - can any one guess how many times I've put the word "beautiful" in this page?? ^^;;;
