// Welcome! \\

Latro Town            Where is it?
Home to Janera's legendary Pokemon expert, Professor Darkwood, this town is quiet and mostly ignored by new trainers. It is, however, a magnet for more advanced and experienced people so this is the place to go for a hard battle.

Rising Town            Where is it?
Larger than Latro in both population and physical size, Rising town benefits greatly from new trainers arriving to gain their license and more advanced trainers travelling through to meet with Professor Darkwood. Although not having any distinguishing features, this settlement is well-placed between Quickwater and Malmarsh and does surprisingly well financially.

Brawbell town            Where is it?
A mining settlement of medium size, Brawbell is famous for being covered in a thin layer of black dust from its obsidian and basalt mines. Exactly how basalt ended up in this very land-orientated place is unknown, although speculations have been made that this corner of Janera was mostly submerged (aside from the Wrathen mountains, which would have formed a chain of islands) many thousands of years ago.

It is also home to the first badge in the Janera league - the Swarm badge - although new trainers find access difficult due to the wall of spiky brambles surrounding this town like a natural wall. The gym's leader is said to have great fun sending those that managed to get in straight back out into the branbles, chasing a swift Scyther in a an attempt to proove their worth.

Quickwater town            Where is it?
A middle-sized settlement stationed alongside one of the main canels splitting up Janera, Quickwater is home to the largest barge-providing company on the continent. The residents are generally cheery but hardworking, despite the inexplicable presence of a huge concentration of electric Pokemon just outside the town. Although these creatures often plague the city for days at a time before retreating back into the undergrowth, Quickwater has made the best of the situation by creating the Janeran electric gym, renown for its powerful leader, Elly.

Bifore Town            Where is it?
Interestingly, this town's excellent location has failed to gain it a soaring population like that of Malmarsh, Hydrin or Mapleton. Sat squat in the middle of Janera, between the three canels that make up the main source of transport across the continent, Bifore appears to be little more than a town of hotels; a place where people tend to stay for a night or so before whizzing off to some other area.

Seasalt Town            Where is it?
A small, fairly boring fishing village on the north coast. Quaint, but of no particular use to trainers still battle-obsessed. Despite this, Seasalt has an interesting history as a naval post during the Kanto/Janera war (see Ash Junior's great fic, Operation: Celebi, for more information on that one), the remains of the old shipyard rusting to itself just to the west of the town.

Coboltice town             Where is it?
Unlike more generic island towns such as Hoenn's Dewford, Kanto's Cinnabar and Johto's Cianwood, Coboltice is anything but sandy beaches and all-year-round sunny weather. Sticking true to its name, this tiny town sits in the middle of a frozen tundra and endures daily blizzards and storms.

Its main source of income is through a unique form of ice fishing, in which many tiny holes are drilled into the ice. Water pokemon used to swimming in these freezing seas are then sent out through these holes straight from their Pokeballs, nets having been attached to backs and fins before they were first recalled. Under the water, these pokemon swim around, catching unsuspecting fish until their nets fill and they resurface through the large hole in the ice that marks the centre of town. These "fishing Pokemon" are reknown for their ability to swim without taking breath for anywhere between half an hour and forty-five minutes. A lot of time is spent training to gain these traits; the difference between being a good trainer and a bad quite often paints the line between life and death.

Hydrin City            Where is it?
A busy city, it doesn't take a genius to realise why Hydrin has such a high population. Well situated by the sea with good access to both the smaller fishing village of Seasalt and the frozen desert of Coboltice, it also hosts a major airport that gives it even further access to larger cities Malmarsh and Mapleton. Famous for its fresh-fried Krillsplish (A Janeran water Pokemon resembling a shrimp) and smoked Barboach, Hydrin has a contrasting mix of towering office buildings and small sea-side restaurants alongside its large and fully-functioning harbour. Definitely the place to go if one is searching for a job with nice scenery!

Magnesia Village            Where is it?
Strictly speaking, Magnesia doesn't exist. Ask any self-respecting mapmaker where it is and they'll probably look at you funny and kick you out of their shop. I, on the other hand, am not self-respecting so it's sitting right there where it should be.

A mysterious and (obviously) cut-off village, Magnesia is guarded by the scorching desert on one side and the mighty Wrathen mountains on the other. Legend has it that Juuri, the destroyer, is held captive at the top of Usurpers mountain by the radiant gem in the middle of Magnesia, but this is about as likely as Oblivyn and Eternyn keeping the west and east lighthouses lit as the result of a stupid dare (<.<;). All in all, Magnesia is as good as impossible to find and damn mysterious if you manage to get there. Not tourist-friendly.

Skyivy Town            Where is it?
A shrine built in honour of the legendaries Seriance and Fiardor, Skyivy town is suspended above the ground via a powerful stone infused with the power of nearly one hundred psychics and Alazakam. A home to the Seridor monks, this town is seperate from Janeran economy and trade, its own farms and water supply to keep it going.

Mapleton city             Where is it?
A bustling and busy city, Mapleton's buildings are all very modern in structure. Started only 50 years back, this "experimental" town was created in an attempt to drain off some of the people who had Malmarsh bursting at the seams. It worked to some extent, although the majority of this city's population come from smaller towns such as Quickwater, Bifore and Rising who came for the new job vacancies.

Malmarsh City            Where is it?
The largest, most highly populated settlement in Janera is home to the Strike badge. The city is so large that the police forces are unable to control it, petty crime poising a serious threat to both visitors and residents. Although considered by many to be ugly, Malmarsh's twin rivers allow it to boast some of the most intricate bridges in existence.
