// The Lighthouses \\
On the east and west outcroppings of Janera's Northern shoreline are two massive towers of rock. One, the west, is formed out of a block of polished obsidian while the east is made out of marble. Both appear to be solid columns of rock, about five metres in diameter and towering twenty into the sky, but at the top three massive 'windows' in the stone show that the top fourth is hollow. It is due to these windows, and the never dimming light that shines from them, that gave the two columns the name "the Lighthouses".
There are many myths surrounding the supposed "immortality" of the light shining from the tops of both lighthouses, which isn't surprising when the length of time people have had to speculate on the subject is taken into hand. Janeran people have been using the light for years for things such as religion, fishing, town safety and (most recently) the tourist industry, so it's not surprising the number of tales that have cropped up about them. A few examples might be...
The sacrifice to the gods
Doom Prophecy
The lost stars
Unfortunately, the truth is not quite so flashy. In reality, the two lighthouses are kept alight by the dragons Oblivyn and Eternyn; Oblivyn maintaining the light of the western tower and Eternyn the eastern. As obsessive rivals, these two legendary Pokemon made a bet to see whose concentration and determination was greater. They decided to create twin lighthouses on the two northern ends of Janera and whoever let their flame go out first had to admit to being the inferior of the two. This challenge has been going on for thousands of years and yet neither will submit to the other. It's a good thing those dragons can multi-task, or else life would get fairly boring for them. ;)
