Battles

There are two different battle modes in the Stone of Reikai. One of these battles modes is hand-to-hand combat which is seen in most RPGs today. The other battle mode is boat-to-boat combat, similar to the one seen in Sega's Skies of Arcadia.

The ground battles in the Stone of Reikai are very similar to most RPGs today. You can choose from several different attacks, from several different kinds of attacks, almost always unique to each charecter. You can choose to Run from the battle, perform a normal attack, perform a special move, use magic, go into a defensive position, or use an item. Each charecter will attack, and then the enemy(ies) will attack. If one charecter or enemy looses all of their Hit Points before their turn to attack, they will still be able to attack. This attack is special, and is called the "Honour Attack." The Honour Attack packs in more power than a normal attack, with hopes of destroying the enemy as they go down.

Another feature that may be different in the Stone of Reikai is the Energy Points. Each Special Move drains a certain ammount from your EP meter. Each full turn, your EP meter goes up a little. This is similar to Skies of Arcadia's Spirit Points Gauge, but is unique to each charecter, and doesn't go down from using Magic.

The naval battles in the Stone of Reikai allow each charecter to attack another boat using the current boat's weapons, or magic. The user not only must decide who should attack when with what, but must also decide how to maneuver the ship. Maneuvering the ship during battle can change how much damage will be caused for both ships.
