Individual and Group classes and workshops
Individual Classes: Due to indivdual commitments
and work, getting to a regular yoga class can be difficult. The stress
involved in getting to class and then back home or to the office makes
the benefits of a yoga practice seem few and far between. For individual
yoga classes we can arrange for a studio near you, or we can come to your
home or office.
Our set workshops: We will offer prearranged
workshops through various organizations and private interests. The price
and location will be advertised at the time of the workshop. These workshops
will be advertised on our
Events Calendar and
will be open to the public.
Sponsoring a yoga or dance workshop: For
group workshops in your area, we charge a base fee, plus traveling expenses
(one or two instructors). Unless otherwise arranged, we ask that the workshop
sponsor arrange the place and sound equipment needed for the workshop,
generally a spacious area with stereo equipment. We will help the sponsor
with the promotion of the workshop through our website if they wish to
open it up to the public. For fees and payment policies, as well as more
information about setting up a group workshop in your area, contact workshops@pacific-trades.org.

What is the difference between a workshop
and a class?
Hatha, Ashtanga, Power, Toaist, Raja Yoga Classes:
In a class you will directed on a rountine designed for you. Your instructor
will talk you through your routine with gentle, nurturing guidance, as
well as make adjustments in your poses to help you receive the maximum
benefit from your practice.
Workshops combine a regular yoga class
with deeper exploration of yoga: meditation, breathing and personal growth
and development. In a workshop we can look at asanas in order to perfect
our poses and discuss their benefits. Workshops are a chance to ask questions,
as well as interact with your teacher and other yoginis.
3n1 Yoga workshops: Also known as "English
through Yoga", these workshops combine language learning with learning
basic Yoga practice. In these workshops, we will learn the vocabulary needed
to understand our yoga instructor, as well as learn explore the basics
of yoga: meditation, breathing and personal growth and development. In
a workshop we will also practice various asanas in order to perfect our
poses and discuss their benefits. The level of English Instruction and
Yoga practice can be adjusted to meet your needs. For more information,
contact Pacific-Trades Bodywork.
Taoist Yoga
You will be introduced to a series of stretches
(i.e. front leg stretches working hamstrings, hip exercises that open the
hips up, forward bends and back bends that give mobility to the spine,
side stretches and bends the help align the spine). These exercises will
be accompanied with breathing sets. These sets help to cultivate a Qi flow
along with the exercises.
You will also learn various wrist exercises for
carple tunnel ailments, in addition to stomach exercises and push-ups to
tone abs and arms. These also cultivate Qi. The stomach exercises are vital
for a strong Qi in the 'hara'.
Through a standing Taoist/Buddhist meditation,
we will learn to root ones' balance and focus ones' mind. Once you are
comfortable with the basics, you will be introduced to a set of virtues
to contemplate on while in the standing meditation!
