Valois United follows the "Seasons of the Spirit" series. Children from age three to youth follow this program. We have a number of dedicated and creative leaders who enrich the faith experience for each child involved. Music is an integral part of this program and the children occasionally offer musical selections during the Sunday Liturgy. Each Sunday, the pastor will spend some time with the children for a story and prayer before they go to their program. The congregation also sponsors midweek activities such as a youth group, which is in conjunction with Lakeside Heights Baptist Church. We also have a Discussion group and a Christian Fellowship group. The Discussion Group meets the first Saturday of each month at 6:30 PM. They share thoughts and discussion on various religious and community topics. The Christian Fellowship group meets on the third Saturday of each month at 7:00 PM., unless otherwise specified. They meet for fellowship and Suppers, as well as outings to various parts of the city. We wish to thank all the parents and teachers for their participation and support in the Sunday School program this past season. Note: First Communion classes will commence after Easter, to prepare the children who wish to make their first communion on Pentecost Sunday, May 30. Sunday School The Sunday School Program will begin the Spring term on Sunday, February 8, at 10:00 AM. This year our resource is called Seasons of the Spirit, based on the revised common lectionary. This exciting resource connects Worship, Learning and Service from ages three years to adults. Our dedicated and creative leaders are looking forward to sharing and celebrating with the children of our parish. Note to parents The Guidance Board has asked the Sunday School to remind all parents of church safety regulations in case of fire. It is the responsibility of the Sunday School to evacuate all children in their care. They will exit through the emergency door nearest their group and be taken to the Manse front lawn at 66 Queens Rd. The parents are NOT to come down to the hall, but are to meet their children at the Manse. Calendar of Events for Winter and Spring 2004. Sunday, February 8, Black History Service. Children to sing two songs. Sunday, February 22, Holy Communication talk. Barbara Fowler to visit the Sunday School and talk about Holy Communion for the Children. Lenten Project, Habitat for Humanity Sunday, February 29, Holy Communion. All children and teachers are invited to come back into the Sanctuary and receive the Sacrament. Sunday, March 21, Children's Servive. Symbols of the Passion. Sunday, April 4, Palm Sunday Parade with palms, special music, Palm Sunday Peace. Sunday, April 11, Easter Sunday Butterfly parade with the children. Sunday, April 25, Pastor to visit the Sunday School. Sunday, May 30, First Communion Service and Holy Communion Sunday, June 6, Sunday School picnic. Note: Diane's class will do a series during the children's time at some services. Baby care is available in a bright, safe and nurturing environment.
