Hymn and Worship Books

At the September 2003 meeting of the Guidance Board it was duly moved and seconded that "Voices United" be adopted as the official Hymn and Worship Book of Valois United Church ultimately replacing the red hymn and green service books now in use.

It is estimated that we will require 250 of the new books of which 200 will have words only ($25.00) and 50 will be the full music edition ($30.00). The print in the "words only" edition comes in only one size deemed large enough to be legible. The figures quoted include all taxes, shipping costs and each book comes with a protective plastic cover.

It is our fond hope that we could have the new Voices United for Easter (April 11) which would mean we would have to make our wishes known by Sunday, February 29.

If you would like to donate a book or books, please come to the church office.
All donations will be included in your church givings.

Annual Vigil to remember

Adrien Bonier (left) with the help of Rev. Douglas Stewart lights candle during a vigil Saturday at Valois United Church to remember the 14 young women murdered in the 1989 rampage at Montreal's Ecole Polytechnique, including Anne-Marie Edward of Pierrefonds.

"It's always focused on that day, but discussion goes from that to where we go from here and how we can make things safer and better today," said West Island Women's Centre executive director Karen Henchey, an organizer of the vigil. While time has slipped by, Henchey said the memories and emotions stay strong. "We're always pleasantly surprised, if I can use those words, with the number of people who come to this. We're the only West Island Organization that holds a vigil every year, so I think people appreciate having a chance to support non-violence.

Memorial Garden

We invite all to come and enjoy our new walks and gardens. Amid beautiful flowers, benches, the cross, you are invited to come and rest, reflect, pray and enjoy.

A special thank you to Malcolm Parker and Ed Harvey and to all who helped create such a lovely oasis of peace and beauty for all to enjoy.
