The year 2004 marks the 75th Anniversary of Valois United Church. During this long history, Valois has
experienced much change and development over the years. In the early days the services were held in the
school, which is now the Valois Library. The congregation grew and it was decided to build a church, for worship and
fellowship. In 1929 the corner stone was laid and the church was constructed. This was done through great vision and
sacrifice of the people, as it was the time of the great depression.
After the original church was dedicated and used for some years, it proved to be too small, resulting in three services each Sunday to accommodate
the worshipping community. This being so, the congregation started a building program again in the mid 50's. As
a result we have the large complex we have today, stretching a whole city block from Kings Road to Queens Road.
We are blest to have this facility, which is used to the maximum each day, for parish and community activities.
This year we celebrate a long and noble history with great thanksgiving and praise to our forefathers and mothers who had the courage and faith to build this beautiful House of God in the center of the community. As part of our celebrations, we will re-dedicate the original church's doors on October 17, at a special liturgy of thanksgiving for the past 75 years. These doors have been carefully and painstakingly restored by a volunteer group from the parish and the doors will be mounted in the Parish's Fellowship Hall for all to see. We are sure they will bring back many memories of celebrations in the past which rooted us to go forward into the future with God's confidence and blessings. "Lift up your heads, O gates. And be lifted up, O ancient doors". That King of Glory may come in. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Psalm 24: 9-10. May our great God, the King of Glory continue to come into our midst, bringing peace, hope and salvation. Friday, Nov.5, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM & Saturday, Nov.6, 9:00 AM - 2:00 AM.
