Pokémon started out (as far as I can tell) as a card game (or maybe it was a video game). It, pardon my pun, 'evolved' into a video game (card game?) and tv show after its popularity sky-rocketed over in Japan. This is just my theory, so if I'm wrong, say so and tell me what did happen.

Its popularity here, however, has died down to the true hardcore fans. Yet its mark still lingers on in the television and music world. Kind of like Power Rangers. (PR is still on! Someone must watch it)
