My Great Great Grandfather, Oliver Perry Anderson

 

Oliver was born in Ohio in June of 1861 to James and Margaret Kirkbride-Anderson. Later on in life his occupation was listed as Laborer and Foundry. He married Sarah Elizabeth Spencer (b. 11-1861) on July 4th, 1881 in Morgan Ohio. Oliver and Elizabeth are both buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Oliver Anderson, M'Connelsville Died on Sunday
McConnelsville, O. May 19 -- Oliver Anderson, aged 63 years a well known citizen of McConnelsville died Sunday evening at 5:30 at his home following a week's illness caused from a severe hit on the head he received sometime ago. He was born and reared near Mt. Zion and of late years was an employee of the Brown Manly Plow Co., Malta. He is survived by his wife and three children - Arthur Anderson of McConnelsville; Mrs. J. B. Hill of Bristol, and William Anderson of Zanesville. He is also survived by three brothers, Webster Anderson, grocery man of McConnelsvile; James Anderson of McConnelsville, and John Anderson of Bristol; one sister, Mrs. Mary West of Zanesville. Services will be held at 10 o'clock at the home Tuesday morning conducted by Rev. James Fish and services and burial will be made at Mt. Zion. (*copied from Ky Longley at Rootsweb)
 

 Sarah was born in November 1861 according to the census records and her headstone that is in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Oliver died in May 18th, 1924 in Morgan County and Sarah October 10th, 1932.

Their children were Nicholas (b. May 1882), Etta (b. May 17, 1885), and my great grandfather Arthur (sometimes listed as Arter in census records, b. March 1889)

The 1990 Census lists Oliver as HOH and age 33, Sarah at 42, Nicholas at 18, Etta at 14 and Arthur at 11.

The 1910 Census lists Oliver as Head of Household and being 41 and Sarah Elizabeth at 50, Arthur (single) 21, and a granddaughter named Mina at age 7. It lists Mina's parents were Etta (Oliver's only daughter) and Etta's husband J.B. Hill.
