Hotrock heater for reptiles

Modern technology has produced a multi purpose hotrock that has a quality finish that is light weight and weather proof.

An inner and outer hotrock shell is used in the production of the hotrock heater for reptiles. The air that is contained within the wall cavities that have been formed by this modern form of construction is warmed to produce a safe heated surface. The heating is evenly distributed throughout the hotrock floor and inner chamber.

Heat and humidity that radiates up from the heat rock will warm the basking rock (not supplied) and provide a warm surface for the reptile to bask on.

Reptile heat rock and humidifier

The heat rock for reptiles can substitute as a warm soak and humidifier / heat rock. Heating and humidity is concentrated around the heat rock creating a mini climate. Reptile heat rock and warm soak

Reptiles that are shedding skin can be helped in the process by supplying a warm water soak. The reptile heat rocks inner chambers floor is water proof and has in built heating to the floor. Water can be poured onto the floor section to create a warm soak.
The reptile heat rock can still function as a heat rock or humidifier while being used as a heat rock.

Reptile heatrock

Reptile heatrocks are made from non toxic molded thermo plastics. The heatrocks are light weight and easy to clean.
Heatrocks for reptiles can be operated from a twelve volts transformer or storage battery (not supplied). Operating costs are very low.

Reptile heatrock and humidifier

Reptile heatrock and warm soak

The inner chamber of the heatrock has a controlled heating system applied to the floor. The low voltage floor heating is regulated to cut off at a preset safe temperature suitable for reptiles.
Water can be added to the floor of the heatrock. The heaters will warm the water to a warm temperature that can be used as a heated soak by reptiles.
A thermostat that will maintain the heating temperature to a safe level with or without water covering the heated floor is built into the heatrock body.

Reptile heat rock

Reptiles live in a variety of climates and habitats. A common area that reptiles inhabit is an environment that is dry with minimum vegetation and has naturally heated rocks and cavities in abundance.

In these dry conditions reptiles often seek out cracks or fissures and any other natural depression where the climate and humidity level is more favorable for the reptiles to regulate their body temperature. A good way of achieving a variable climate in an artificial environment is to have multiple heaters for the reptiles enclosure spaced in different locations within the habitat. This will produce a variation of heating temperatures.Heat rocks can be used to complete the habitat.

An indication of incorrect humidity levels in your enclosure is when the reptile is going through the skin shedding phase and the reptiles skin is not shedding properly. Creating and maintaining the correct temperature and humidity level in the reptiles enclosure is the best way to reduce problems when reptiles are shedding.

Reptile hot rocks

Reptile owners are aware of the special heating and lighting needs of their pets habitat. The requirements of a healthy and balanced reptile enclosure can vary for different species of reptiles. There are no easy single solution that is suitable for all reptile species.

The warmth from the sun is used by reptiles to regulate their body temperature and aid in the digestion of food.
UV lamps are used to help their bodies develop the vitamin D3 which aids the stomach to absorb calcium.

Reptiles require heating to assist in the digestion of theirfood.

Without a supply of natural or artificial heat the bacteria level in the stomach of reptiles could reach dangerous levels.

Reptilesare cold-blooded creatures and are incapable of generating their own body heat.

They cannot regulate their internal temperature and control it by shivering and exposing themselves to sun and shade.

A heated environment for your reptile should can include heating from above and below the enclosure.
The temperature in the reptiles habitat should not be uniform throughout the reptiles habitat so your pet can seek out a suitable temperature range.

At night the reptile will require a temperature that is lower than the days temperature.
Some species of reptiles will hibernate during cool and short days.

Positioning of the correct types of heat lamp varies for each reptile and the design of the habitat.

Night time requires a period of darkness for your reptile. Providing your pet with a dark and secluded area at night will help in producing a natural environment for the reptile.

Humidity levels in your environment have to be maintained at a suitable level for your pet. Two or more sources of artificial heat have been introduced to the reptiles habitat and the correct level of humidity must be maintained.

Geckos are an example of how important the correct level of humidity needs to be maintained within the reptiles enclosure. The only source of moisture a gecko lizard will take is from condensation that is formed on the foliage within the reptile enclosure or enclosure walls. An incorrect humidity level will not create the right environment for droplets of water to form.

Heating and humidity stress

Reptiles in their natural environment adjust to weather patterns in different ways.

Sleeping during the worst part of the day is an effective method reptiles use to control their body temperature. Another method of temperature control is to burrow beneath the ground or substrate.

All reptiles have their preferred temperature range and will go to great lengths to achieve the correct comfort zone. Some species of reptiles will partially or fully hibernate during extreme weather.

Indications that the reptiles habitat has a climate that is incorrect are when the reptile attempts to burrow beneath the substrate, or the reptile is very stiff in its movements.

Other indicators of an unbalanced reptile enclosure are the loss of appetite or the inability of the reptile to rouse itself fully after sleep. Sleeping for extended periods, or in the case of lizards a darkening of the skin color is another indicator that the artificial habitats heating, lighting or humidity level is not suitable for the reptile. Do not confuse skin shedding as a hydration problem in reptiles.

These are some of the warning signs that all is not well in your pets habitat and a vet inspection of your pet may be warranted.

Humidifier

A humidifier that is ideal for small pet enclosures and incubators.

If a warm tropical environment is required for a pets enclosure then the low voltage weatherproof humidifier will provide the correct level of humidity and at a very low operating cost.

The humidifier is designed to produce a fine mist of heated moisture. A reusable air filter is built into the humidifier to remove contaminants that may be present in the air.

Heating temperatures that are maintained within the enclosure will still operate within your desired settings as the moisture supplied by the humidifier is pre heated.

The weather proof humidifier can be operated in wet areas and the entire humidifier has been constructed from the latest rust proof thermo plastics and stainless steel fittings.

Insulation has been built into the humidifier to prevent heat loss and provide protection against an electrical shock.
A replacable electrical overload switch is also provided for maximum safety.
The humidifier has an automatic thermostat that will shut down the humidifier if an external blockage ocurrs that causes the heat and moisture to build up within the humidifier shell.
When the obstruction is removed the humidifier will automatically restart.

Modern weatherproof thermal panels are molded into a compact and light weight humidifier that will provide years of trouble free service.

All fittings are rust proof and the humidifier can be operated exposed to weather.
A filter that is quick and easy to clean removes contaminants before the impurities pass through the humidifier. Vet health, hotrock and reptile health care sheets have been provided free for your personal use.
