Well, this was really a work stint, though it was good to see family and friends again while here.
I was lucky to get a contract at short notice, working for Qantas, right when my funds had depleted. I work as a mainframe computer programmer/analyst when I'm not sailing, and it has usually been slower to find work when I need to. The work was stressful at times, but in the end satisfying to be part of a team again to develop, test and help install a software upgrade.
The relationship with Cristi broke off and it was a heavy time for me emotionally. Oh dear. I guess breakups are never easy for anybody.
I used my dad's campervan on occasional weekends to visit the Blue Mountains, south coast and highlands around Bundanoon, and have a few pictures here. It was wonderful to camp amongst the Australian bush again with its smell of eucalypts and sound of kookaburras and other birds in the morning.
The biggest highlight was to attend my youngest brother's wedding and it was a fun and happy occasion in a small country pub near Bundaberg, in the farming lands where Julie grew up.
