HISTORY

The Research Institute for Mindanao Culture (RIMCU) was founded in 1957 by Rev. Francis C. Madigan, S.J., Ph.D.  It was originally established to focus research on social science questions touching the fields of demography, anthropology, economics, history, and political science, whether by explanatory, descriptive, or experimental study.  RIMCU's mandate is the pursuit of high quality social science, to advance the development of the Philippines in general and Mindanao in particular.  RIMCU's vision of a developed and dynamic Mindanao foresees a better life and richer culture for all its peoples, including small farmers and fisherfolks, the Lumad and the urban poor.
