Makino Tsukushi is one of the main characters, the whole series is based on the love triangle between her, Rui and Tsukasa. She is a really brave and friendly girl - she is the first person ever to have stood up to F4 and this is what attracted Tsukasa in the first place. She comes from a poor family but because her parents wants her to marry a rich guy, she goes to the elite Eitoku Garden.

When she first attends the school, she tries to be quiet and unobtrusive but after witnessing F4's bullying antics too many times, she finally stands up to them - her naturally aggressive attitude resurfacing. At first she likes the quiet calm and 'perfect' Hanazawa Rui - he is like the Prince Charming of her dreams. However he is uninterested as he still loves Shizuka (childhood sweetheart). However, as the series goes on he too falls in love with Makino but by that time she is already with Doumyouji. So he remains by her side as a protective and caring friend. ^^ (Really very cute!) She is played by Barbie Xu (Da S) in Meteor Garden.

Hanazawa Rui is the quiet, sensitive guy in the F4. When he was young, his father was always very strict with him and this left Rui an introvert who expresses his emotions through the beautiful music he plays on his violin. ^^ He looks great when he's playing too!

Quiet and secretive, Rui spends most of his days out of classes, and sitting on a school staircase, staring off into space, lost in his own thoughts. One of his favorite hobbies is sleeping. Rui is the most calm and serious of the F4. He also seems to be the most compassionate of the guys as well, helping Tsukushi out of trouble several times. While Doumyouji always tends to get Tsukushi into trouble, it is Rui who is like the knight in shining armor who appears to aid her. During her relationship with Doumyouji, they always argue and Rui is always the 'rock' she can rely on for support. A close relationship forms between them and he even calls her his 'pet'. ( How cute! =P)

At the beginning of the manga, Hanazawa Rui is the object of Tsukushi's affections, however Rui's feelings for her are hard to discern. His introverted nature makes him difficult to talk to sometimes. Tsukushi has a hard time reading what he is feeling. Sometimes it seems Rui is interested in Tsukushi, while at others it appears that she is merely a source of mild amusement. Rui seems to be in love with a girl from his youth, Toudou Shizuka, an incedibly beautiful and famous idol girl. She is two years older than Rui, but they grew up together, and a special bond formed between them. His feelings for her are hard to fathom because sometimes he seems utterly infatuated with her and other times, he is interested in Tsukushi. (*sigh* How I wish he could've been with Makino in the manga...) Rui is played by Vic Zhou in Meteor Garden (the reason I fell in love with Hua Zhe Lei and Hanazawa Rui!! =P)

Doumyouji is the leader of F4 and heir to the great Doumyouji empire. He is very rich and tends be a spoilt arrogant brat. He has a very strong personality and because of his wealth, he bullies everyone around (except for Tsukushi that is). He has a huge ego and thinks he's the best - he's also a bit of an idiot. (Note: One of the reasons why I don't like him. But I'm hoping my bias is not showing up here in the profiles...) Doumyouji has a quick temper and lashes out at anyone who annoys him slightly. Because of this, everyone is Eitoku Garden is afraid of him.

On the outside, he is confident and proud but inside he's actually very lonely and sad. He lives alone in his big mansion with his servants - his parents are always away and his sister, Tsubaki is married and lives in America. He covers up his true feelings with bullying and anger. Because of his wealth, people suck up to him but he knows that they only want him for his money. Tsukushi is the first person who seems to care for him as a person and not his money. He falls in love with her mainly because of this and also because she has a strong personality like his sister. His older sister, Tsubaki are one of the few people he's afraid of but they are still very close.

Tsukasa is not very good at expressing his true feelings as his pride, arrogance and temper gets in the way. He gets jealous easily (mostly of Rui because he's so close to Tsukushi ^^) and this causes all sorts of arguments between him and Tsukushi. He can also be very possessive about the things he loves - he is always the first one to protect Tsukushi if anything happens to her. Throughout the story, he changes a lot (for the better) because of Tsukushi, his temper calms down and learns to see things from other pplz P.O.V. He is always sure of his own feelings and doesn't often doubt himself. He is played by Jerry Yan in MG.

Nishikado Soujiro is the third member of F4. He is a famous womanizer and has a different girlfriend every week. During the manga, he gets involved with Yuki (Tsukushi's best friend), but nothing really results from it. You can heaps of fics with him paired up with Yuki though. ^^ He's a handsome guy and has girls falling for him left and right. He hangs out with Akira a lot - they are the most similar in the group. They join together to tease Tsukasa and Tsukushi ^^. He's a nice guy really - except for the fact that he plays around with girls..

Mimasaka Akira is always cheerful and friendly. He's a playboy like Soujiro but he prefers older women. His personality isn't much different from Soujiro's - whom he always hangs out with. They team up a lot to tease Rui and Doumyouji and they try to get Doumyouji and Tsukushi together. His character changes the least in the manga/ anime. He has long wavy hair that he wears loose or ties up. He is the one that values the F4 friendship the most and tries to keep everyone together as Rui and Tsukasa drift apart because of rivalry over Tsukushi. He has a funny birthday eh? He is played by Vanness Wu in Meteor Garden.
