Well I finally made it to Yellowstone today, though with all of the road construction in the park it took a while to get through. I passed right on through Yellowstone and went south down into the Grand Tetons National Park. It was still relatively early in the day when I arrived at the park and since the weather was gorgeously sunny and hot I decided to jump right into doing a hike. Sadly again I didn't bring enough water this hike, that's not to say I didn't bring A LOT, but it just wasn't enough. Lucky for me I was in lake country and as such I stopped a great many times to splash glacial water on my face and head, it helped but by the end of the 8+ mile hike I was so dead tired and drained of fluids. It took me quite a while before I felt better after the hike, the freezing cold shower though helped A LOT. Yep! I finally found a park with a shower, it costed three bucks American for the shower (so like 10 bucks Canadian to clean up lol), but it was SO worth it!! After that I decided to get a campsite, which was made difficult by the girl working the campground office. Lets just say she doesn't think too much of Canadians intelligence, "Gee, 4th of July is a holiday?? Oh my I NEVER would have known!! Gee is that why the park is so full!? . . . EH!?" lolol. Oh well at least I can laugh about it now. It pissed me off at the time how she was acting though.
So yah I finally got a campsite, and made myself some supper. I got a bonus on the supper front too, my next-door neighbor was this friendly woman from Iowa who offered me a chicken breast. She was a great neighbor to have that night.
So here I am July 3 . . . I had only hoped to spend one night here then one night in Yellowstone. But NO WAY ill find a campsite open tomorrow night in Yellowstone so I think ill stay here tomorrow night as well and just do a day of hiking . . . better wear some sunscreen this time though . . . OUCH!!!!!! I'm hurtin'. |
