Well I got up this morning with the desire to move on, and by 10am I was on my way to Waterton . . . slowly . . . first I had to do every hike to a waterfall that I passed along the highway which came to an additional 4 waterfalls to add to my collection. Along the way to one of the waterfalls I came across a couple of woman on a gypsy trip of their own. They were from New York and were heading to the west coast before going back home. I was envious of how much distance they were clocking on their journey.
Lucky for me I forced myself to do these hikes today, as I had woken up SO incredibly sore (especially in the ankles) from yesterdays climb. But the hikes I did today helped a lot in loosening me up again.
So with all the hikes done that I wanted to do, I now pretty much just drove through the photogenic Logan's Pass road. I regretted being alone in the car as i drove this highway, cause I couldn't look around me at all the wonderful sights as much since i had to concentrate on driving. This road allowed for little room for error in a persons driving. If you drive off the road chances are you went over a cliff. A few cool highlights from the drive was seeing the mid-summer 50 person snowball fight on a glacier and coming within 15 feet of a baby mountain goat and her kid . . . . .
. . . . sorry i got distracted from my journal writing there last night by a woman I met from B.C. So its now the next morning.
After all my driving yesterday through all the crystal clear blue glacial lakes I finally came to Waterton National Park. When I entered the park I was told I was pretty much screwed to find a campsite. Guess I should have stayed in Glacier. But even so I decided I would spend one night here (somewhere) and do some biking. I had run out of film while driving through Logan's Pass and decided not to worry about taking pictures in Waterton. Both because its basically nothing different then Glacier Park and also because my camera isn't safe with me on a bike. But I did regret not having film for the sunset that night, it looked so nice from where I was across the water from the Waterton Lakes Lodge. O well I hope I will have more film next time I come by this way. |
