Obituary: Francis J. Bigham
Francis J. Bigham died September 15, 2000, at the Danbury Hospital. He was 78 years old and known as "Bing." He was the husband of Dora Costello Bigham and lived on Apple Blossom Lane in Danbury.
Mr. Bigham was born in Danbury Jan. 29, 1922, son of the late Frank and Bertha Marcinek Bigham. He graduated from Bethel High School, Class of 1940, and entered the U.S. Army to serve in World War II. He fought in the Rhineland, Central Europe, and the Mid-Eastern and African campaigns, serving in the 69th Infantry Division. He received the Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge and the European Theater Medal. He was discharged as Staff Sergeant after serving from October 1942 to December 1945.
Mr. Bigham was an electrician for the Ducci Electric Co. of Torrington, CT, for more than 40 years and retired in 1982. He was the project and general foreman for such construction jobs as the Danbury High School, the Danbury Hospital, UniRoyal, Perkin Elmer and Union Carbide. He was a 50-year member of the I.B.E.W. Local Union No. 525 and served as past President and Financial Secretary. The 525 latert became the Local No. 488 in Bridgeport. He also taught night school at Henry Abbott Tech during the 1960s. He was a member of St. Gregory Church.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by three sons, David J. and his wife Barbara, Brian and his wife Peggy, all of Danbury, and Keith E. and his wife Patricia of Newtown. Two daughters, Patricia A. Zadrozny and her husband Ben of Bristol and Michelle a. Tortora and her husband Gary of Branford. 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Three sisters, Isabel Utter of Danbury, Anne Lovell of Brookfield and Bertha Abbotts of Wells, VT. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Deborah Bigham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at St. Gregory the Great Church, Great Plain Road, Danbury, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury, on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Hematology and Oncology Department, Danbury Hospital, Danbury, CT 06810 c/c Dr. John Pezzimenti.

Hello Cindy! My g-grandma Anna (I have 3 last names for her- Wronak, Bruner,& Veronia)of Austria or Poland, was married to two of the Shesky's (Joseph then John). She was married before the Shesky's, to a Michael Zadorozny. Both Anna and her 1st husband have been very difficult to find any information on. I have copies of Joseph, John and Anna's marriage license. That's where I found Kyton and Katherine's, the 3 boys parents. I'll keep in touch.

Message: Hello Cindy! My G-Grandfather is Michael Zadorozny. He died about 1923. My G-Grandmother then applied for a marriage license with Joseph Szewczyk, but the court house personnel said it was never legalized (unless they married in another county?). Joseph died Feb. 4, 1928. Then my G-Grandmother married John-Joseph's older brother Nov. 26, 1929. I have the marriage licenses of both brothers to Anna my G-Grandmother. They had children together, but at this time I don't know which children belong to the Shesky brother's. I am working on that, and when I get more info. I'll let you know what I find. This side of my family is difficult to find info. on. There's a few conflicting dates and Maiden names. I'm hoping we have a connection somewhere. Talk to you again.

My maiden name was Shesky and I was born in Meadville, PA. I also lived in Cochranton, PA for many years. My father is Stanley Shesky and his father's name was Joseph Szewczyk and mother's name was Josephine. My father's mother died when my dad was very young. Then, his father married a widow named Anna, and they lived in Cochranton on a farm. Don't have a lot of other information. One of my brothers (Stan) still lives in Meadville and my parents now live in Arizona.

I believe we are searching for the same families! I am from the line of Anna's 1st husband, before Joseph Szewczyk. Anna had a stepson Stanley, and I'm told Anna & Joe had a son Walter that lived in Butler, PA., and then Berkley, WVA. There were 3 brothers that I know of - John, Joseph & Mike Szewczyk, all of Cochranton area, I believe. They were from Poland. Joe was a boiler maker. John was a farmer. Was the farm located on Marsh Rd, off of Rte. 285? That is were Anna lived After she married John, Joe's brother and they had a son Frank of Meadville. Anna had 3 children to her 1st marriage a daughter ( my grandmother) and 2 sons, 1 killed in WWII. Is any of this familiar to you? If so I do have a bit more information I would be glad to share.

It sounds like we might have a connection. My father, Stanley Shesky, had two half brothers, Walter and Frank. Frank still lives in the Meadville PA area. My father, Stanley, now lives in Mesa Arizona and I live in Whittier, California. Where do you live? I remember visiting the farm where Anna and John lived when I was a little girl, a long time ago. In fact I have some pictures taken on the farm when I was around 2 or 3 years old. My father, Stanley, worked on the Erie Lackwanna railroad most of his life. Although, he was born in Braddock PA and worked in a coal mine for awhile.
