Hello everybody I'm Double L, your host for the first annual NES Superlatives.  We certainly have a full crowd, don't we?  Well, I don't want to keep all you folks waiting.  So let's get right to it!  The nominees for our first award, the Most Addictive NES game, are:

Duck Hunt

Duck Hunt is one of those classic games that you always find yourself going back to.  Who hasn't wasted a whole night some time playing Duck Hunt?  And who hasn't been in a bad mood some time and gone over to the NES to shoot some virtual birds?  Don't even get me started on trick shooting.  Spinning around, somersaulting, and coming up on one knee shooting behind your back.  Now there's something you can never get bored of.

Ninja Gaiden

Ninja Gaiden gets nominated due to the fact that once you reach 6-1, you don't want to put it down.  You're so close.  You know that all you need to do is master the patterns of a couple more stages and you have reached the boss.  But then that boss kills you and you're back to 6-1, knowing that you're so close, that you must keep going.  It's a vicious cycle.

Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy was nominated for basically the same reason as Ninja Gaiden.  You're always so close to doing the next thing in the game.  Whether that be defeating one of the main enemies or reaching new levels, there is always something within twenty minutes of gameplay.  And that is what keeps this game in your NES for long periods of time.

Ice Hockey

One of the sleepers, Ice Hockey was not expected to get nominated.  However, Ice Hockey proved it was worthy of a spot.  When the speed setting is on 5, the game becomes a moderate challenge to beat.  Also, beating the Russians over and over again never seems to get tiring.  And don't forget the fights.  Ice Hockey, arguably the best hockey game ever, is our fourth and final nominee for Most Addictive Game.

And the Winner is...Duck Hunt!

Duck Hunt's simplistic game play and endless levels has won it an NES Superlative!  Now coming up to make Duck Hunt's acceptance speech is the hunting dog.

"Haw haw haw haw haw!"

One award down, plenty more to come!  Let's head to a commercial break.
