Hello once again from the NES Superlative awards.  It appears as though our panel of five judges has just arrived, so from now on, they will decide winners of awards.  It's only fitting that our second award deals with a game sequel, so this award concerns Super Mario Bros. 2.  Our question is "Who is the best character in the game?"  Let's take a look at the nominees, along with their descriptions in the manual:

Mario

Average jumping power in almost all situations.  But, the height he can jump decreases a little when he is carrying an item.  (2nd fastest)

Luigi

He can jump the highest and can go much farhter but he jumps slowly.  When he has an item, his power decreases more than Mario.  (3rd fastest)

Toad

He has the least jumping power.  But since he has lifting power, the height he can jump and the speed he can run does not change even if he is carrying an item.  (fastest)

Princess Toadstool
She is No. 3 in jumping power.  When you hold down the A button, she can float in the air for 1.5sec.  Her jumping power decreases quite a bit when she is carrying an item.  (4th fastest)

Let's see what the judges have to say…

Well, it appears that the first four judges have each chosen a different nominee!  That means that the final vote, from Judge #2, will be the deciding one.  Let's see what he has to say:

Judge #2:  Well, all characters have one attribute that sets them apart.  Mario is consistent.  Luigi can jump very high.  Princess Toadstool can float in the air.  But Toad, even though he has the least jumping power, is my vote.  He doesn't lose anything when carrying an item, and we all know that slow and steady wins the race.  And, out of all four characters, Toad looks the coolest!

Well, it looks as though Toad has won our second Superlative.  Unfortunately, Toad can't be with us tonight.  He's too busy negotiating a price for his next shipment of shrooms to a high-profile dealer.  Let's go to another break…
